Ahem

*checks Big Book of Empire Forum Cliches*

"Three stars? Big surprise. You just know that means the film will be two stars on DVD. "

Just getting that one out of the way.

I don't mean to be pedantic but the 'Matrix of leadership' has been in Transformers for years; it wasn't something new that Bay threw in... unless of course its different in this film. I havent seen it yet obviously!

Que the constant posts about Empire selling out, Empire not selling out, the CHUD review says this, I don't like how this Empire review is written, Empire gave IndyIV five stars, they gave Terminator Salvaion four stars etc etc...can't wait

I somehow get the feeling that the reviews thread is going to be more entertaing than the film itself. What I'm really looking forward to though is seeing Mark Kermode's review live when I'll be in the audience on Friday, should  be epic!

4 Stars, 4!
And it deserved none of them!

Ain't read the review, won't until I've seen the film, but 3 stars, as always.

Kermode's reviews can often be bloody hilarious, although I don't always agree with him. See him in full on rant mode for his reviews for Pirates 3, Transformers and Terminator: Salvation.

One star less than Terminator: Salvation?

I still don't get how Salvation is a four star film.

just because I am in one of the moods I am going to say that I thought IndyIV completely deserved the stars it got even though this thread has nothing to do with it...

Empire. Sorry you have hyped this film up way too much to backtrack on 3 stars.

And so it begins...

I just meant doing the "How can W film get  X stars when Y film got Z stars?" thing.

Well I can't judge until I've seen TR2 but to get a star less than Salvation must mean it's really bad.

Hmm, 3 stars, that probably means there'll be less one-post-wonder backlash in this thread than in the one for the first film, but we'll see.

Hold on now people, this is the same magazine that gave Revenge of the Sith 4/5. I'm not trying to say that the reviewer's opinion is wrong, but just that they're..............wrong. If ROTS got 4/5, every film ever deserves at least a 6/5

I just don't get it. If you hated the first one why bother going to see this? What is the point? Why waste your life like that?

I'm not a Transformers fanboy. I prefer my blockbusters to have smarts and good, memorable characters. But even so, on the inside a little child is saying 'WHEEEE!!!ROBOTS!!!!' and this is why no amount of bellyaching over the review score is going to dent the film's popularity. I'm going to see it and, provided I'm not stuck to someone who doesn't bathe like when I saw the first film, will likely enjoy it, balls and all..

Makes me laugh, some people love to moan so much, they will actually shell money out for the privilege.

I suspect a lot of the people who now hate the film had a good time with it at the theater, obviously there are also plenty of people who genuinely loathed it, but let's face it, the you-fucked-with-my-childhood-memories/Michael-Bay-is-the-devil bandwagon is easy for some people to jump on to. But yeah, if you hated, really hated it, there is zero reason to see the second, unless it's because you've now been convinced it's all different, even if it's the same cast, writers, director, producer, etc.

Exactly  - the film is 150 mins long. There are far more productive things people could do with that time than see the sequel to a film they hated. I hated Spiderman 3 and have no intention of seeing the next one. Ditto the X-Men franchise.

There is whole world out there. I had more time for people who didn't like the first one as it was something new. If you hated that film, or/and the works of Bay, and STILL go and see this one you deserve everything you get.

On a seperate note, Iron Man got three stars and kicked ass, so this is a good sign. 3 Stars is the new 5 Stars.

I wouldnt have seen this film as the first one bored me to tears. SLB wise cracking for 2 hours was not fun. I would say though, that I liked the trailer for this follow up. I just might have been lured in, until the Michael Bay emergency brain alarm went off, when in the ad, I noticed that once again, shots of meteor type objects crashing into things is a feature of this film. Luckily, this reminded me that, I should not ever be tempted by this sort of brain candy, because ultimatley it will just leave me unsatisfied and slighly nuaseous. Is there anything worth seeing until Avatar in December ?

Thit raview is rubbosh, Empire wull gove it 4 sturs on DVD and dut, etc...

Seriously, seems a fine review, can't wait to see it on IMAX, just expecting more of the same and that's fine, thought the first was dumb fun with Spielbergian tones (the family stuff, hiding the robots) all over it, so hope this is as fun it not taxing the brain
