while pathfinder looks very sexy, i hate all his films. lets hope he pulls a McG and at least delivers something worthy of the celluloid its printed on, if not a masterpiece. fingers crossed on this one

May I suggest Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson for the title role, give him black hair and blue contacts and you have the man himself.

It is already dead to me. I should have realised when Ratner was almost handed the reigns. These people clearly don't give a fuck.

Oh well, at least we'll always have the classic first film and the books.

In short, Empire, no, he is not a good choice. Marcus Nispel is never a GOOD choice. Anyone who can take a premise as inherently kickass as Indians vs. Vikings and make a film as goddamn boring and incompetent as Pathfinder is never ever, ever a GOOD choice. For anything. Especially stuff with the potential to not suck.

Once again: fuck this reboot!

i got upset when i first read about Mc G directing Terminator 4. but that turned out pretty well. so im gonna reserve judgment until i see the film. i hope dwayne Johnson gets the role and lets face it no one can come close to arnie so they might as well just go for it with dwayne.

I thought his Chainsaw remake was good.  Friday remake was a laugh.  I aint seen Pathfinder because I've heard it was terrible...but it sure looked pretty.

Either way you'll get a great looking Conan film from him

He's got one thing Joe Gatta didn't have... A big bushy beard!

had to get that out the way with. regardig his Dwayneness... sorry but no. big bloke sure but he's no Conan. he'd need like a year of bodybuilding to get anywhere near Conan sized. and to think Arnie had to LOSE muscle to play the role because he was too big to hold the sword properly.

Personally, I like this aproach of a huge open casting call.

plus, although initially i did myself baulk a little at the idea fo this guy directing.. the reminder of the McG/Terminator deal has given me hope. thank you fbot83

Sorry if I came off a bit hostile earlier, but this reboot was initially being billed as a return to the pulpy literary roots of the character, and now we're going to get the 'childhood interpretations' of Marcus shitshitshit Nispel instead, and that just hurts my insides. I mean, what does that even mean? I wanted to see a proper Conan film, damn it. So so much.

At the risk of appearing a complete tool I still feel that I have to say that I quite liked Pathfinder. Although the script was rather pants it was visually stunning and the action set - pieces were really rather good. I am also a fan of the remakes that Nispel has overseen. They are not high art in any sense of the word but they succeed in terms of pushing the right buttons at the right time. I would think therefore that if you want a faithful adaptation of what is essentially a pulpy and entirely overblown characature of a character, Nispel may well be the man. I also don't see why he has to be casted in terms of physical size. Films like 300 have shown that it is completely possible to make a good actor appear like the size of a house instead of a shit bodybuilder attempting to act.

Enough talk!! I don't just want a good looking Conan movie - I want a full blown epic, blood and thunder Conan movie full stop. Arnie looked like Robert E Howard's iconic creation but at the time - he couldn't act for a hill of beans and John Milius seemed too wrapped up in his own philisophical rubbish to get to the real heart of the character. How can anyone screw this up with all the rich source material at hand??? Remember Mr. Nispel, Conan is supposed to be a tough, mean looking hombre... so no puny looking, teen friendly lady boys in the part please...
