Well let me say i can't wait for this one i love the fact that hollywood is a cash cow minded load of old toss in fact i think they should follow this up with a remake of Goonies, Back to the Future, Ferris Buellers day off, Flashdance, The Conversation, 3 days of the Condor, Star Wars, Jaws, THX 1138 and er erm ok Duel and when they've done this i'll be justified in saying UK, European and Asian Cinema rocks and Hollywood sucks a big fat donkey..........

If this is an original story enhancing the Alien we all know and love, then fine. If not, then STEP AWAY FROM THE FRANCHISE!!! Don't go near! Run as fast as possible in the opposite direction to this franchise. We've been infected with AVP dirge so we won't take kindly to another slap in the face!!!

it seems that about 90% of the american film industry today has zero to no imagination. and its becoming absolutely irritating the amount of times empire are telling us of the plus points of all these remakes. maybe empire are pretty big in america and are trying to sell more magazines true hollywood style. lastly, if this is a ruddy original tale then tell the guy writing it to keep it that way and not use the alien name to put arses on seats in the cinema. (i use arses as an ambiguous term of course). tony n ridley should be ashamed, they have enough bad films to their name so to destroy the name of one of their best is just shameful.

Why on Satan's tufty ballsack would they remake nigh-on perfection. Sure the sfx nowadays could make the Alien less like a tall man in a suit and actually alien-like and the computer stuff more up-to-date but Ridley made an instant classic right out of the box. You can't better it so what's the point. W****RS Holloywood I S**T'em

No! Leave this movie alone. Fox managed to f+++ up the series with Alien Resurection. Don't make things worse by making a prequel. Lucas did it and look what he turned in.

is a really talented guy, which is why he really shouldn't start his movie career with the remake of a classic. I personally don't think this will be (re)made but if it is god help him.

Tom Rothman must die.
And the fact that Ridley Scott is involved doesen't change the fact that this is one of the worst Hollywood ideas ever. It will totally kill the mistery of the first Alien.
Go and make your Monopoly movie instaid Ridley.

I really don't see the need to remake a classic like this. You never know, it could be good but I just think it's a waste of time, not EVERY film has to be remade. It's good as it is so we should just leave it.

Did you read O'Bannon's script. If you did you would know why he doesn't get any credit for Alien's brilliance.

A remake would be totally useless since all the films are still excellent anno 2009. Be an origins story, yeah why not. Sequels are fine (not good, but entertaining).

Well, as long as it is not a remake or a reboot ( terrible new fashion word in Hollywood) I am interrested. I've always had a fascination for the Alien movies , ( the Scott and Cameron movies were amazing) and I am curious what more they can do with the mythology. The alien creature design ( the giger one) is still the best movie monster ever, so whenever they make a movie with this beast in all it's gory evilness, i'm in. ( except for the horrible, horrible AVP 2)
So let's keep an open mind. If Mc G can make a cool Terminator movie, ( something nobody thought he could pull off) than maybe there's some life in the alien saga too.

Am I the only one who finds it rather insulting that the headline reads 'Alien remake', then when one actually reads the article, they mention it might not be a remake at all? Probably just me, but it does seem unnecessarily misleading.

My initial reaction, as Empire pre-empted, was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
But reading the actual article, and the fact that this may not and SHOULD NEVER be a remake, I have reduced it to simply “Eh?”.
This just sounds weird and pointless.

I am comforted more by Scott's involvement but even if this film is made and is good. I still have the feeling that this is all going to be slightly pointless, still an alien origin story isn't that bad a prospect, so you never know.

Sequal's/Prequal's are one thing but for the umpenth time what's the point of these fucking remakes!!? Now by default I am not against all remakes and some of the more obscure movies that haven't quite imbedded themselves into pop culture can be ripe for a remake if enough water has passed under the bridge, even if they where pretty good to start with... BUT this is sacrillage of the highest order!!! What's next remake the Godfather, Blade Runner, Star Wars or perhaps The Dark Knight is ripe for a remake I mean it's only been 18 months!!!?

OK so it's not necessearilly a remake and a pretty talented team are attached to the project... but I can't see how a pre Alien origin story would have any legs.

Judging by the ads, this guy would be better suited doing Transformers than Micheal Bay ever would be.
As long as it's not a remake/reboot then they can do what they want...if I don't like it, I won't watch it...just like AvP.

Please. Please don't. Aliens is my favourite film of all time. You remake Alien, someone will remake Aliens. You've already fucked up the franchise with "ello guvn'r!" Alien 3 (everyone's a bloody cock-er-ney) and Alien 4 was just sad. PLEASE! Leave it alone!

wow! I can't wait! I think ALIEN is a horrible, smelly old from film with old actors from 1979 and it MUST be remade withnice shiny CGI and more action and sex so we can understand it! I will definitely watch this!

I can't bring myself to be angry at this. It has been a long time since we saw a good Alien movie: Aliens in fact. Both 3 and Resurection were interesting at best. If it manages not to make me want to pluck my own eyes out lthen it's a winner above AvP

Reading the title of this article I did get an inward erection. Ouch. Thankyou Empire.

But as it seems that it is probably not a remake but an original tale I can relax a little bit, especially if Ridley Scott is forseeing it. Judging by the guy's commercials he seems an interesting choice (at least it isn't the Strauss Brothers...).  Now, if they can just focus on making the alien actually scary again.  And realise that they maybe don't really need a Ripley clone we may have a decent movey!

All the Hollywood producers and writers who think up "re-imaginings" should be shot at dawn by firing squad.

No remake or reboot pleasssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I really like the idea of an origin, I like many wish to know how the Aliens got on LV 426. There's a good team behind it, but I don't like the fact the director is effects heavy, most of the alien movies relied on physical effects, models and costumes. We shall see how this pans out...
