I will give this a try. Really don't know much about it as I've stayed away from reviews incase of spoilers.

Having watched the entire series now I can safely say (no spoilers) that it is rather good. Starts off a bit slow but I'd say the final six episodes (of 12) are top notch stuff, especially the last two.

Not Whedon at his best but still good fun.

Woohoo! Can't wait, even if word of mouth has been pretty negative. Can anyone reveal if its getting a second season (before I commit)?

Agreed, there's a lot of potential and I really hope it gets a second season.

Why does it need a second season to be watchable? Firefly anyone?

Looking forward to this show, though the UK start date did take me by surprise as I have seen zero promotion for it over the last few weeks - that's the bad thing of it being on the Sci-Fi channel, it may struggle to pick up casual viewers compared to if it was being shown on Sky 1.

And UK viewers also get to see the last episode compared to the US viewers who missed out on it (though it is being included on a DVD, and I think is meant to be something of a stand-alone episode anyway).

Also a 2nd series has been announced, though it appears one of the outcomes of this is a reduced budget - which also ties in with the last/lost episode as it has been rumoured that one was actually something of a showcase of how the show could continue on a restricted budget: click Here to read more (I haven't read the whole article myself encase of spoilers, but the first three or four sections talking about the renewal are safe at least).

sanchia beat me to it

So, that's how impressed you all were? lol this thread was buried on page 2.  Seriously what did everyone think of the pilot?

I enjoyed it   I thought it was good but not great.  I like the charachters and the usual awesome Joss Whedon dialogue.  The story wasn't bad - first episodes are difficult as there's so many things to introduce.  I've seen the next two episodes and it does get better.

Pretty solid stuff, my Sky+ missed a bit off the start though but I got the jist pretty much straight away... Eliza and Lennix were both solid, and nice to see Helo back in action

I was actually really surprised how much I enjoyed it. I was expecting to have to give it a few episodes before it grabbed me but I have to say I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode.

Yeah my Sky+ missed the start of it too. Very annoying.

I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. It was good but it hardly set the world on fire. It felt like the second or third episode instead of the first. I guess Whedon was trying not to spoonfeed his audience and let information about the Dollhouse slowly seep in but...I don't know. It was missing something. But I liked it and I'll stick with it.

Don't expect it to get a whole lot better. It's certainly watchable but it's not even in the same league as the first seasons of Buffy and Angel, let alone Firefly.

I enjoyed it for a pilot. Pilots are always a bit awkard, but the premis is very promising and should give eliza dusku a great opportunity to show off her acting skills. Plus it's nice to have a joss whedon product back on the market and to see that his writing is still there regardless of how much pressure and meddling the network does.

She is actually one of the weak links in the series.

It's definitely got potential. Also great to see BSG's Helo in there. Just hope my Sky+ can get the start this time.

I genuinely liked it. Moreso than I expected to be honest. I thought it was grim, creepy and refreshingly grown-up for a Whedon show. The fact that the script wasn't littered with one-liners and "...much" at the end of every sentence isn't necessarily a bad thing. Looking forward to the next episode, and now that I know S2 is on the cards I'm going to trust JW's track-record and insist that by the end of the second year, we're all going to adore it.

The first episode wasn't as good as my expectations set it, but nevertheless, it was enjoyable. I am going to see this show through to the end, which thankfully enough, is not at the end of this season.

Anyone else who missed the first minute due to SKY+ it's worth catching it again. It showed her signing up and she talking about how "she told me to find a place in the world" don't know who the she is but for one minute I was thinking oh my god is she actually faith? but I seriously doubt it

That review is bull shit.  Since when do Buffy fans say the show doesn't get good until series three? Most people think series two is the best.  And there's some bloody good episodes in series one too.  So, from the start of his review he had me annoyed.  TV critics eh? What the hell do they know?
