A trailer has finally appeared, alas not much else is known. Visually its very much a Godard film, with some striking digital photography. Thematically it appears to be dealing with the usual mix too. Unfortunately the trailer is not subtitled.

I'm in two minds on this one.
On one hand it looks like a cheap French documetary trying too hard to look like a Godard film.
And on the other it doesn't look like Godard at all.
I'm sorry but i think i'm just too much of a sucker for his early work

i dont know, i think it fits in quite well (visually at least) alongside the newer work, so in that respect looks like a godard flick. his older work is perhaps reliant too much on the look of celluloid towards providing his "look" from that period, something digital could never compete with.

Godard's still one of the main directors who refuses to let you get a grasp on the film from the trailer, I see. I like it- although like all Godard trailers it's abstract and divorced from typical trailer-making, but I think that effect is enhanced by not having subtitles.

That said, it looks promising, and despite the complaint about the cheapness of the cinematography, this looks, from the trailer and the pictures released, like it could have some of the most beautiful digital photography ever. But then most of his recent work looks stunning.

So I watched the Kino Lorber blu-ray tonight:

Film Socialisme
Godard`s most recent film is no light stuff...It`s made up out of three parts and you don`t really have to search for a narrative. The best thing that you can do is just submit to it and enjoy the montage of perfectly fitting together combination of images of sound.
Will re-visit it for sure and then we`ll see if I really like it or not...
