This is one of the worst films ever made it was a total joke, i don't know why Arnie signed up for this without the man JC there is no TERMINATOR movie. The storyline in this was pathetic and why did they choose J Mostow to direct? what the hell has he done which is even remotley close to a Terminator movie? and don't get me started on the female terminator in this, her acting was so bad she wasn't in the same league as T1000 (Robert Patrick). As soon as i heard JC was not on board that was it for me i knew this film was gonna be bad, to this day i have not watched this film. Just watching the trailer was bad enough T2 rules!

awful! simple utter rubbish! the series ended in T2. And it wasn't written or dorected by Cameron. Avoid, unless you want the crappest film on earth. I repeat, IT ENDED IN T2!!!

I found this to be a truely worthy sequel and utterly fantastic to boot. An old school blockbuster.

I'll sum up using three words - Good enough, just.

Terminator Lite.  It lacks the bite of the previous films and a less muscular, older looking Arnie doesn't really cut it in the role.  At the same time the plot is a dissappointment as it weakens Terminator 2 by belittling the actions and sacrifices taken by *SPOILER* suggesting that everything is preordained and that no matter what is done to prevent future events they are already written and will happen thus naking attempts to stop thm pointless.

Suprisingly enough this has a lot more in common with the other two than people are giving it credit for. It has some typically great action sequences and the ending is truly dark - the end of the world. They should never have lowered the rating though - these movies are violent sci-fi thrillers and should be left that way.

Seen this in the pics when it first came out. One word - shocking! How could you turn arnie into a camp jokey terminator!! Needed to make this more similar to the original terminator to make the series more credible.

A good enjoyable action film.
The story is thin but if you turn your brain off its a fun ride.

The worst of the series though...

Quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen. Not just because its terrible from start to finish but mostly because it's a follow on to one of the best sequels ever made and shits all over the terminator legacy. The Terminator, previously one of the toughest characters in movie history putting on Elton John sunglasses and spouting such dire dialogue as "Talk to the hand" as if we should laugh heartily at the sodomising of greatness proved that it wasn't the end of the world at the end of the picture, it was more likely the end of it from the start. Add to this the future saviour of the world, John Connor, being out-muscled and out-smarted into a dog cage by his future wife and you get an idea in your head that the future is fucked. And finally how can you improve on the T-1000, the ultimate killing machine? Here's one: employ a pretty girl. make her spout cliche lines that aren't a patch on the T-1000's and let her shoot rockets out of her arms. That's a great improvement! No wait, it's just a lame pedestrian idea that fan boys can get sweaty over. Very very poor. Do NOT make another one.

First of all it's a Terminator (no caps) film (not movie), unless of course we've become US citizens. Yes I am fully aware that Empire branded itself as "the world's biggest movie magazine" (until the Dec'07 issue), much to my chagrin.

There's one logic of yours which I do not understand :-

what the hell has he done which is even remotley close to a Terminator movie?

Yes the 'm' word again..I guess by that reckoning Peter Jackson should never have touched the LOTR trilogy

Whilst Robert Patrick did well as the menacing T-1000, I can't see how it was acting masterclass. These things are literally robotic. Whilst the T-1000 was clearly designed to be more human it was hardly a nuanced performance, it needn't be as there's no emotional depth to non-organic organism.

By the way your beloved James Cameron did direct the non-canon T2 3D: Battle Across Time. See here :-

YouTube (click)

Plenty of hockey dialogue to boot.

The problem with T3 is it lacked a decent script, some of the plot didn't work. Such as Arnie putting on those starry shades, saying such banal things as "talk to the hand" or those stupid T-1 machines. Although there are some clever points, such as Skynet not yet having a system core but operating throughout the internet and planting the virus to sabotage humanity. However as the original review by Kim Newman concludes, the ending is well done and at least concludes the trilogy satisfactorily (and on a particularly sombre note). Shame the rest of the film wasn't so polished.

I thought Arnie was in impressive physical shape, given his age. Yes he looked a little older but I didn't find that a detracting factor. I disagree that the film suggest the future cannot be changed, as it clearly has been since the events of the first film. If you remember Arnie says that "there's insufficient time" to stop Skynet from coming into being, its virus was already wreaking havoc worldwide. While Arnie says "you postponed it, Judgement Day is inevitable" at that particular juncture in time it was inevitable, as Skynet was already up and running. Effectively there wasn't much they could do but hide from the bombs. In the concluding voiceover Nick Stahl says "maybe the future has been written, I don't know".

The film whilst weak concerning plot and script had solid acting from Stahl and Danes, and it doesn't belittle the events from the previous films because they ensured John Connor's survival. That was always the sole objective, and so they were successful.

It was obviously inferior to the first two films but I quite enjoyed it all the same.  Although the 'terminatrix' was fairly weak I thought there were some decent action scenes and it ended fairly well; by no means a travesty in my opinion.

I love the way people pay out Arnie's Terminator in the third one, saying he was taking the piss out of himself (which he most certainly was), all the while blind to the fact that Arnie in T2 is as cheesy and as cringeworthy to watch now as anything else you'll ever find. What's the difference between "Talk to da hand" and "Hazta la Vizta babee"? Nothing, that's right.

I find it difficult to watch Terminator 2 very often now: the action scenes are still bar-setting, but it's only the blinkered fanbois who can't see it for the CG-dependent, hokey, schmaltzy mess that it is.  At least T3 is more honest about the whole thing. It's shorter, sharper, punchier, and has the best ending out of all three Terminator films. The globe with the nukes gracefully arcing across .... sends shivers down one's spine.

If I've got a spare saturday afternoon with four hours to kill and I hadn't seen T2 in a coupla years I might be tempted to throw it on, if I skip through the bollocky bits. If it's a Friday night and I'm after shit getting blown up and a nice bleak ending, it's T3 every time.
Acourse, if I'm after pure brilliance, it's the first one. But this is undisputed.

i dont understand the hate for this movie...it suffers from the same treatment as Rocky V.

people tend to put T2 up on a seperate pedestal to this, T3 is a very similar kind of film...people here are saying they can't believe the 'campness' of Arnie's Terminator, he's exactly the same in T2.

T2 was a very different movie to the original, alot of people tend to forget that though.

I watched T3 and i enjoyed it for what it was, it was also another cool play on the overall story.

You think its the worst film ever made...and you say you havnt seen it? Contradicting yourself there dont you think? How about actually WATCHING the film before you say its the worst film ever made.

I think T3 is great fun.Its a little light on the gore, but come on! If your making a summer blockbuster for $175 million, your gonna make sure its rated PG to give the film a chance to make its money back. And the film was very rough at times, check out the bit where the TX punches its way through a FBI guys chest.

The crane truck chase is probably one of the best action sequences of the decade, and the ending is a brave and bold one.

It's alright but I expect more from Terminator. Shouldn't have gone for the 12A rating as this ruins the essence of the film. Don't mention the sunglasses. And the Terminatrix just wasn't scary.

Some very good bits but could and should have been so much better.

3 stars

Agree 100%. No its not as good as the previous films but this is a lean fun action movie, unlike most nowadays which get bogged down in dull extended soap opera style character angst in laughable attempts to add gravitas. T3 is pure popcorn fun!
