Cool Runnings is WAY better than Salo.

Lol, Monkeyshaver. I enjoy Cool Runnings BTW. Salo....*shudder*. Don't want to see it, to be honest. But let's get back on topic, or at least try to.

If someone likes Twilight they should see Let the Right One In.

I really don't think you can recommend Let The Right One In to someone who enjoyed Twilight, and vice versa. The only thing they have in common is vampires, which, in this case, does not mean you can compare the two films on anything other than their vampiric elements - which differ completely anyway!

Angsty shit about a loner who befriends a vampire. Fantasy in cool tones. Did I menton vampire?
I kind of get what you're saying and all, but I also kind of like the spirit of the thread, so I gave it a shot.
Sure, many a tween who greatly enjoy Twilight might not rock to the Scandinavian blood sucker beat, but I'm sure there's some overlapping taking place. After all, blood, darkness, all that stuff is universal. Also, both movies feature school.

I really like "Before Sunset", "In Search of a Midnight Kiss" and  "Forget Me Not". Can anyone recommend a film or films in a similar vein, that are comparatively recent?

I do look much better on celluloid it has to be said. No my dear boy, thy callus hands ought to ring your neck for such waywardness (are you Martin Adams?). This is the film I was talking about:

I think this 'poster review' is rather funny:

I get what the thread is trying to do.

If someone likes Face/Off, they should watch Hard Boiled.

If someone likes The Mummy, they should watch Raiders of the Lost Ark (duh).

If someone likes Disturbia, they should watch Rear Window.

If someone likes Epic Movie, they should be shot.

Not really in the same genre though. I've seen it anyway. "Monsters" is the only one I can think of, but I've seen it too.

If you like Fargo...

You should see The Young Poisoner's Handbook.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'd try to see it this weekend.

On topic:
It definitely depends on the gender, personality, etc. If it's your mom (or someone her age range), then you might wanna recommend light movies like romantic comedies or something like Julia Robert's Eat Pray Love.

For teens and young adults, just name a movie with their favorite celebrity and they'll surely watch it. Just kidding! I'd recommend fantasy like vampire, wizard, etc films.

What utter balls.

I used to date a girl some time back who, on our first meeting, delighted me by saying that one of her favourite films was....

THE GREAT ESCAPE.

She asked if I had it so we could sit and watch it together.

I'm confused. Is this for people who like a certain film and want to know if there are other films like it?

Or is it if you liked film A why no ttry the lesser known, but similarly themed, film B.

People just seem to be listing off films that are similar.
