The original just didnt do anything for me, which is odd as i love pretty much all the other horrors from that period and all the other 'classics'. I just think the original is crap really. I do like the sequels though.

Watched My soul to Take and loved it not as good as Nightmare 1 or even Scream but enjoyed all the same.

Not wanting to take this off topic, but what did you like about My Soul to Take? I haven't seen many positive reviews on it and am just curious as to what you thought was good about it? (I hated it, but I'm not asking to have a go or anything, just genuinely curious).

Dont mean to butt in here but I loved My Soul To Take. Loved the story, very original. Great look for the slasher character, The Ripper. The characters were all likeable and it was very unpredictable in regards to who lived and died. More so with the female characters. Good film all around. very underated and unjustly panned I felt.

I agree with this, for sure. It made you think one thing but gave you another. Thought the film as a whole was dull though. and above all, it just wasn't scary, not in the least. Plus, it took itself far too seriously. If it had more humour or was more tongue in cheek, it may have worked better. Look at Shocker, bad film but fun. I didn't get that with MSTT, I'm afraid.

And the story isn't that original. Serial killer possessing someone? It was done in The First Power, Fallen and even by Craven himself in the aforementioned Shocker. Don't get me wrong, though, I am glad the film gets some love, it just doesn't get any from me

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm glad there are people who like it. I fully expected to and had been looking foward to it as I love Craven. Sadly, I thought it was dull, boring and uninspired.

I watched Dream Warriors last night. The thing is, there's no question it's a solid film BUT just as I was getting into it it struck me how loose the script is. There's no real structure to it at all. Like, seriously none at all. The film starts and then it's just a series of scenes of characters being introduced and nightmare attacks and then out of nowhere the end pops up. Considering Darabont had a hand in this I was a bit shocked. Still somehow it works. I think they should have stuck to Cravens original Elm Street 3 script (pretty easy to find online for any other die hard fans to read).

Also who the hell is meant to be the lead character in Dream Warriors? You think it's Kristen but then she vanishes into the back ground. Nancy seems to be a guest star in her own franchise and then there's good old Dr Neil Gordon. The focus of the story keeps shifting back and forth between these characters. It's shocking. Still it somehow manages to hold it together.

Don't know about any of you but was anyone else pissed off they killed off Kristen in Dream Master? What was the point in introducing this cool character who battles Freddy with amazing gymnastic skills and an ability to drag people into her dreams?? To pave the way for Alice? I hate Alice. She just appears out of nowhere and takes over the franchise. They should have killed her off.

My Soul To Take was god-awful, incredibly boring. Couldn't even make it through the whole film.

It's valid if I make it a personal mission to never turn off a film mid-way and to watch it the whole way through, yet My Soul To Take managed to make me do it. It joins the infamous ranks of Ultraviolet and Transporter 2 which also made me do the same thing.

but if you haven't seen the whole film, your opinion on it can't be valid, as it's based on an incomplete viewing, anyway this is a thread for nightmare on elm street so let's leave it there

does anyone have any more news on the 1-7 boxset on blu ray that's coming out? I wonder if there will be any new extras. I have the 1-7 set on DVD, but annoyingly the set is missing Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. I have the remake on blu.

Far as I know that 1 to 7 box set BR is a rumor. There was a release date posted for it on some Blu Ray website but that's it and it was on a forum. There has been no official announcement at all. My guess would be New Line are waiting to see how the Pt2/3 double release goes and then go from there. I fear it may end up like the Friday criminal Blu Ray treatment. The first 3 didn't sell great so the amazing extra features packed pt 4, 5 and 6 never got the Blu Ray treatment. Criminal I tell ya!

Can I just ask did no one else hate the Alice character????? Just me then yeah?

The only Nightmare Heroine for me was Nancy played by Heather Langenkamp.

This book is called CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES: THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF FRIDAY THE 13th. It's a frakkin' awesomely comprehensive hardcover pathing-slab of a book.

Does anyone know if there's ever been a similar NIGHTMARE book...?

That is a great book! Been out for a few years now that Snake and I think it's from the guys who produced the 'His Name Was Jason' and 'Never Sleep Again'. I guess what's happened is the book wasn't the biggest seller and maybe thats what put the stops on a similar one to Nightmare. However, I can vouch for Englands bio and Cravens 'Screams and Nightmares' books. Both go into great detail on all the Nightmare flicks.

Cheers Bozz - I actually have 'Screams & Nightmares' and it is indeed a good read. May still pick up Mr. Englund's bio book soon. I just think that a character so embedded in the popular culture as Freddy would deserve a book just as awesome (if not better) as the Crystal Lake book. Highly Recommended by the way.

I agree. I'd say more Elm Street more so but it's yet to happen. I may email the guy outright. Him and Ryan Rotten are quite cool and often happy to talk about genre stuff! I love how some of the cast are so catty in the 'Crystal Lake Memories' book. The best is them having a go at Jennifer Cooke, calling her snobby etc and the guy playing Jason has to jump to her defence! Priceless.

On the subject of priceless- anyone seen Tuesday Knight acapella of 'Nightmare' on 'Never Sleep Again?'.

That's odd as I have the 1-7 boxset and Final Nightmare is there. If your set is 1-7 then the disc is missing and you should contact the distributor for the disc. Annoyingly it only features the vanilla disc of Nightmare 1 so I'm considering buying the 2 disc SE and popping it into my boxset.

I got that 7 Disc boxset too and yes, it includes Freddy's Dead.

The original is the bloodiest and is my favourite. Probably followed by New Nightmare, then Freddy's Dead and then Dream Warriors. The rest could disappear for all I care.

Englund is a legend. You seen these gloves? http://k4fgloves.com/

I'd say,

1. A Nightmare on Elm St
2. New Nightmare
3. Dream Warriors
4. The Dream Master
5. Freddy's Dead
6. The Dream Child
7. Freddy's Revenge

1. New Nighmare.
2. A Nightmare on Elm Street.
3. Dream Warriors.
4. Freddy Vs Jason.
5.Freddy's Dead.
6.The Dream Child.
7.The Dream Master.
8.Freddy's Revenge.

Robert Englund is great and the remake was awful.
