Watched this last night for the first time in ages, still one of the best action movies ever, the opening plane/chopper chase is mental, and the pace never lets up, yeah the plot is utter nonsense (it was originally meant to be set much further into the future to make the face swapping aspect more plausible, but when its so much fun you dont care) but the two leads are clearly having a fucking ball making it, trying to do the more OTT Castor performance, Cage has less time as Castor but he wins for his reaction to seeing Archers mug floating in a jar the prison sequence is all kinds of awesome "you had a sex sandwich with his wife and his sister the night he was sent here!" funny seeing a young Thomas Jane playing a blond haired, glasses wearing psycho. The shootout with the Somewhere Over The Rainbow track is still fantastic, as is the boat chase , this movie fucking rocks

D'you mean 'Pollux Troy'?  No mate, that was Alessandro Nivolai - he went on to appear in (among other things) JURASSIC PARK III.

No the guy who has long blond hair, think his name was Burk Hicks, he's the one who Castor says "you wanna see what wasted looks like little man?" to when he first comes into the prison and doesnt recognise him, that be one Mr Thomas Jane

This has nothing to do with Face/Off, but I was really surprised to see a very young Thomas Jane in The Crow City of Angels, the other night. What was even more surprising was that in the movie, the future Punisher goes into a nudie booth and has himself a tug

I just downloaded John Powells score for this, love the theme where Castor gets out of the car and his coat blows in the wind, its so cool

I wonder if someone told Jane on the set of Face/off that in a few years time hed be making a film(The Punisher) where he got top billing over Travolta.Hed probably thought that was never gonna happen in a million years.

Never thought of that

I love the opening credit sequence to this, that great shot of Castor pulling the cover off the rifle as the title appears and Powell's great score kicks in, the melancholy theme really works

The big question, who plays the better parts? Cage as Troy/Archer or Travolta as Archer/Troy? Travolta gets more screen time as Troy but they both look like they're having a ball playing him, I'd go with Travolta as a better Archer and Cage as a better Castor, if only for the choirgirl fondling
