I also enjoyed and am generally a big fan of Simon Pegg, but he was incredibly irritating in Star Trek. Fucking awful performance, the only one who didn't hit his mark.

Personally I never really wasn`t into the whole Star Trek thing but because I read that J.J. Abrams` origin story was worth checking out for non-initiated as well I went out on a limb and bought the blu-ray. And I didn`t regret it!

Right from the get-go you`re thrown into the story and action in a brilliant pre-credits scene. It looks like it all goes way too fast but after the Star Trek logo has passed the screen it slows down and you`re quite slowly introduced into the Star Trek world and its` characters. The pace gets grows as the films goes along and is constantly high after that. Abrams does a great job in keeping the pace high and keeping the storylines easy to follow for the people who aren`t familliar with it all as well.

With beautiful special effects, an excellent soundtrack and at times an over-acting Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Abrams makes it a great blockbuster that should interest fans and first-timers alike.
8,5/10

Star Trek reignites a classic franchise with action, humor, a strong story, and brilliant visuals, and will please traditional Trekkies and new fans alike. The best in the film series by far.

I've never been a Trekkie but boy was I surprised by how much I liked this movie. Very entertaining stuff. This is what the Star Wars prequels should have been like.
