how about a moderately indulgent topic of empire magazine staff... supply some stock pics of the staff and we'll take it from there.

Empire boys and girls, passing on an idea someone posted on my Facebook, as I usually link these threads there. Worth putting the winners into a short Youtube video with appropriate music? Not a hugely long job with even just a basic video editing program. Anyway, just a thought... I may just have a look at a basic example shortly...

As for future threads, perhaps a three-four week evolving theme of decades, eg week 1 - the 60s, week 2 the 70s, week 3 the 80s, week 4 - the 90s. Not only are they so vast in each, if you make it clear that they are going to be the themes, just imagine how many would get prepared in advance, so the weeks 2 on onwards may just get insanely busy (hell even without leadtime I have so many 80s ideas!) Worth a shout for a new month?

Forgive me if these have already been mentioned:
  • Animals - You've Got Snail
  • Drinks/Cocktails - WooWoo Framed Roger Rabbit
  • Fashion - Wild Wild Westwood
  • Artists - Gauguin in 60 Seconds
  • Robots - Cylon With The Wind
  • Sir Terry Pratchett - Death Of Rats In Venice
  • Video Games - WOW-boys and Aliens
  • Musicals - Suddenly Seymore, Last Summer
  • Newspapers and Magazines - EMPIRE Strikes Back
  • Drugs - For A Few Dollars Morphine
  • The Rat Pack - The Hills Have Ol' Blue Eyes
  • Rock n Roll - Cobain Man
  • Country & Western - Man in Black II
  • Authors (by genre perhaps?) - Raiders of the Lost Arthur C. Clark, Christ-E
  • Politics - American Pie 4: Milliband Camp
EDIT
I forgot to mention EMPIRE's 'Big Lists' from the Features section:
  • 50 Sexiest Females As Voted by EMPIRE - Jol-E
  • 50 Sexiest males As Voted by EMPIRE - Johnn-E
  • 100 Great Movie Characters As Voted by EMPIRE - Ind-E
  • 50 Greatest Comic Book Characters As Voted by EMPIRE - Spid-E
Maybe every time a new list is added to the site, we could have it as that week's topic for the mash ups.

Just a thought, but next time Oscar season comes a-knocking, perhaps a Mashup Awards thread/feature might be worth a shot, as there have been some amazing pieces of work on the various threads. So, what categories should there be?

Best Picture?
Best Artist/Masher?
Best Font Work?
Best Pun?
Best Original Mashup?
Best Running Joke? (for the Wall-E/Man On Wire/mashup staples)

What about mixing two themes with just adding one letter? Like "Fright Night" is becoming "Fright Knight"...

Had a few more of these on my hard drive, so reposting this one, but a Seth McFarlane theme would be pretty good to cover

Further ideas include -
The Bark Knight; X-Men Origins: Wolfrancine; Grizzly Man (replace the bear with Tim from the Cleveland Show); Must Love Dogs (Brian and Jillian); North By Mayor West

Maybe with Immortals on its way, a Greek & Romans theme or a Myths and Legends theme might be worth a go

Troy Story; How To Train Your Pendragon; Oracle on 34th Street; Flash Gorgon; King Arthur & The Invisibles; Pirates Of  The Mediterranean; Freddy Vs Jason & The Argonauts; The 40 Year Old Vestal Virgin;
The Ides of March (simply swap Clooney's head for Julius Caessar); Prince of Perseus; Troy: Legacy; The Man With The Golden Fleece; Pandora's Labyrinth; Fists of Furies; Drag Me To Tartarus; Teen Beowulf; The Asgardian

The Bowie week worked really well - an iconic, universally known man with a huge fanbase (it's no surprise they went viral). You had 3 or 4 decades of albums, songs, lyrics and even films to chose from... which is why classic artists that are still loved toady is a great pool to dive into in further weeks:

The Beatles
Rolling Stones
Bruce Springsteen
etc

Right then, to business...

How about a topic of The Undead, covering everything from ghosts and ghouls, to zombies and vampires. Take a film and give it an Undead twist. A few examples of varying quality

10 Things I hate about Ghouls
Breakfast Is Tiffany
Gruesome Almighty
Burn After Killing
Died Hard
Freddy Got Turned
Good Night and Good Suck (careful...)
Coldfinger
Honey I Turned The Kids
Night In The Mausoleum
Rebel Without A Jaw
The (Dearly) Departed
The Deadfather
The Postman Always Bites Twice
There's Something About To Bite Mary

Espionage/Government agencies would be a decent one to get into with Agents of SHIELD coming our way shortly.

You'd have loads to delve into
Agents of SHIELD
Mission:Impossible
Chuck
24
Alias
Spooks
Archer
Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Bourne
North by Northwest
Taken
Austin Powers

that's just for starters. Could be a broad topic to delve into, and that's even without touching Bond movies
