Looks pretty interesting, just a bit of a shame he'll be another damn Yank hero; Desmond is pretty empty as a character (though I do like his voice-over guy and was the same lad that played the lead in the last game I played Prince of Persia). The other old-world characters in Ezio and Altair had class and style, hope this guy will be likeable. On the gameplay front, it looks like there will be a new wealth of side-missions to accomplish as well which is always a delight of the series.

Well, don't forget that by all acounts he isn't technically American as he's going to be half English and half Native. Bit like Hawkeye.

Ok I can live with that then

I'm confused. The major gameplay elements from before were scaling huge city buildings and sword fighting. How will these fit into the time period and setting?

Well...I'm guessing there will be forests and mountains to climb and traverse. There are rumours about New York and Boston featuring in the game; they'll have buildings, although nothing like Jerusalem or Venice, of course. Obviously there will be much more open expanses of land to explore, I'm guessing. There will still be swords, bayonets, tomahawks, muskets and so forth.

Personally, I'm getting more and more intrigued by this new setting. Nothing wrong with a bit of something new.

First teaser trailer up - TRAILER

While I'm intrigued by potential changes to gameplay and setting my fears about the whole "America! Fuck Yeah!" and "Kill all Evil Brits!" approach have sadly been reignited. Oh well, there's still time.

They may make it more about how the Templars are infiltrating the newly formed United States and the new guy will try and put a stop to it. I hope so anyway rather than what you described above.

Hmm...that Lost Mayan Ruins level in the exclusive content has me interested....

Anyone else seen the latest game vid highlighting the range of weaponry Connor has access to?  Tomahawk, bow and arrow, dual pistols and of course the hidden blade.  You had me from Tomahawk

I'm currently trying to get the 100% Synch achievement in Revelations and some parts are just doing my head in.  After I manage this one, I suppose I'll venture into the multiplayer arenas, although I wasn't a huge fan of this feature in the last one.  I'm hoping that ACIII takes a leaf out of Mass Effect 3's book and offers achievements that can be earned in either SP or MP.

Looking forward to Assassins Creed 3 but i would like to ask a question. I've played Brotherhood and it ended on a cliffhanger, was gonna get Revelations but some people on here thought it was gash, is it worth playing Revelations to find out what happens or should i just wait for 3?

I thought AC:R was pretty brilliant. Unnecessary tower defence sections aside.

Is it worth waiting till it comes down in price as i do enjoy messing about like a time travelling assassin.

Hrm, do you only get the MAYAN RUINS level if you buy the expensive version? Because as I previously stated in this thread, Mayan Civilization is one of the settings I've most longed to see the AC series visit. Even if it's just a single level, it's a bit of a dream come true!

I wouldn't compare it to PvZ.

I definitely think it's worth picking it up at cut price. Though I gave it 9/10 when I reviewed it way back when.

Nice change of scenery in the gameplay trailer. I don't think I could have done another game in frickin' Italy

Hmm...

Assassins' Creed - Holy Lands
Assassins' Creed II - Italy
Assassins' Creed: Brotherhood - Italy/Spain
Assassins' Creed: Revelations - Constantinople/ Holy Lands
Assassins' Creed III - America

Though yeah, I agree that it's nice to get out of the Renaissance at least

So Amazon and Play have different pre-order bonus packs, where are you ordering from?

I'm way too poor to pre-order at the moment I'm still getting the game but just by itself.

It was only two games in what we today call Italy. Contrary to popular belief, Ottoman Turkey, especially Istanbul, was not situated in what we consider Italy.

Oh and Revelations is probably my favorite. Films and games about Ottoman Turkey, especially the period of instability between Bayezid II and Suleiman the Magnificient are basically nonexistent and Revelations was simply glorious just for being set in that era.

Yup. Although my beef with how the Ezio saga is tied up runs deep I'm looking forward to being a sneaky git after the disappointment of Dishonoured.

Absolutely. A lot of Assassin's Creed fans I know kind of wrote off the series after the last two, but I stayed with it and actually liked them both quite a lot and everything I've seen for 3 is making me very very excited.

Same here, I fucking adore this series. Revelations was a little clunky but still great fun. I had my doubts about the politics of AC3 and the way the marketing pandered so crudely to base American patriotism, but in interviews with the creative team they've been quite keen to emphasise that this isn't the Assassins vs the Brits, that it's more complex than that. Most of the trailers just haven't reflected that, which I guess is sadly to be expected.

However, as excited as I am I don't want to buy it yet, simply because of all the infuriatingly different versions featuring different DLC, including the PS3 getting exclusive extra missions, which just plain sucks. So I think I'll hold out for any special edition releases next year, or at least I'll try.

I will miss Ezio. He was awesome.

I was hopeful about this but the reviews say it's glitchy/buggy and there's lots of QTE (which I absolutely hate).

As these games seem to be on a yearly release cycle, I think AC3 could be picked up in 6 months time for about a tenner. By then, the bugs should have been patched too...
