Ok - I agree... on the whole it's a great list.

But where is the love for Caractacus Potts?

The greatest movie invention is doubtlessly Garden State's silent velcro.

Barnes Wallace? Granted he was a real person but dammit if his bouncing bomb wasn't inspiring stuff in The Dam Busters.

And clearly the two guys in Weird Science. If they can make Kelly LeBrock using an Amstrad, then kudos.

Erm, you're forgetting Wallace (& Gromit)...Manic inventions are his forte...rabbit catchers, crazy trousers and a pond that flips upside down so you drive over it. He should definately be on the list.

I agree where are Wallace (and Gromit) and Caracatus Potts both inventing legends of my childhood!

Blade Runner's Eldon Tyrell, and the inventor in Metropolis. I also have a soft spot for Robin William's character in Toys (but then I'm weird). And what about the Fisher Stevens in Short Circuit? Or Joe Morton at Skynet? Alright, alright - there's a clear robotics theme here. i'm just going to retreat into the background where I belong!

Caracatus Potts only really invented the toot sweet. The flying car was just part of the story he told the kids on the beach. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang could never actually fly...
