I think the fourth series was delayed because Armando wanted to focus it more on the coalition - I think this means more Peter Mannion and Stewart, but hopefully The Fucker as well.

Scripts for the fourth series should be in now at the BBC with filming expected to start early this year and the fourth series due out in the Autumn.

I know The Fucker is definitely in, don't know about Mannion but frankly I'm just hoping Armando brings Jamie back!!

"Alright shits, pull your knickers up, it's the IT sweeney! We have come to strip search your computers, don't worry, we're only after intelligence, so we might be here a while!"

Arguably one of the greatest ever deleted lines in movie history!

Absolutely - if the series has the Holy Fucking Trinity of Jamie, Malcolm and the Fucker it can't be anything other than comic gold all the way through.

Back to the subject of the Best Malcolm Put-down, this scene has to be the best comedy outburst since Basil Fawlty hitting his car with a branch, and wouldn't be nearly as great if it was delivered in anything other than Capaldi's brutal Scotch accent...

Finished series 2 now. The email and special ed stuff.

I haven't seen In the Loop, would I be missing something if I went straight for it?

Go for it. The only characters from The Thick Of It who features in In The Loop are Malcolm Tucker an Jamie - a lot of the cast from the TV show show up in new roles, which is a bit strange.

What he said. You now know who Malcolm and Jamie are and Armando's writing style, so definitely go and watch the film. It is pretty much like an alternate reality of 'The Thick of It' with regulars from the show playing other, new roles within the British government, some akin to their other characters, and some the complete opposites.

Then go and watch series 3 and wait for Tom Hollander, who plays the lead in 'In The Loop', to pop up in the final episode in a very different role.

"You know what I should do right? Shoot you all in the fucking head. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. But I can't. Because. It's. Illegal."

Looks good, can't wait. When does it start over there, and does anyone know if it's going to be picked up over here?

I see he's retained Anna Chulmsky from 'In The Loop' and given her a role.

I remain agnostic. That woman can't act. Will that change because she is finally faced with good writing?

Seems good in those clips - she gets the awkwardness at least.

Oliver Platt is actually one of those actors I could watch in anything, he would've been great in something like this.

They should've got Deadwood writers. Get some proper swearing on the go.

Doesn't make it overly clear who the Tucker bloke is. Hope it's nae the dude wi' the ridiculous grey waistcoat/cardigan.

Wonder if there was any WW set laying around for them to snaffle?

No clues on new characters yet, although everybody is fully expecting Tom Hollander's 'The Fucker' to be in. Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison are amongst the regulars confirmed to return, and I will say a little prayer each night that Jamie may come back to Number 10!

Simply can't wait for this, personally I think it's the best and funniest thing British television has produced in years!

It was only in episode eight that I realised Stuart is the specialist in the training day episode of The Office. Full of corporate bullshit in that as well.

Same here. The actor who plays Julius Nicholson, Alex MacQueen, pops up in a lot of other modern British comedy as well, of late he played Neil's father in The Inbetweeners.

Did you watch it on DVD matty or elsewhere? If it wasn't on DVD these little extra mini episodes may interest you. Here's the youtube link to the first one, I think there's six in total, if you go into the youtube search it should show them all....

Yeah they are, they're like the deleted scenes but put put together as little webisodes, they sort of fill in the blanks during certain parts of series three. I hope they do it with the series four DVD when it comes out as well.

Any word on a possible film sequel to In The Loop?

Marvellous, looking forward to them. I actually watched In The Loop before The Thick of It - I think a rewatch is in order now.

I think it's always worth watching it again afterwards if you didn't watch the TV series first because you appreciate those little moments more, like Jamie's introduction in the film.

I find him arguably funnier than Malcolm in In The Loop....
