Back to the subject of the Best Malcolm Put-down, this scene has to be the best comedy outburst since Basil Fawlty hitting his car with a branch, and wouldn't be nearly as great if it was delivered in anything other than Capaldi's brutal Scotch accent...

I haven't seen In the Loop, would I be missing something if I went straight for it?

What he said. You now know who Malcolm and Jamie are and Armando's writing style, so definitely go and watch the film. It is pretty much like an alternate reality of 'The Thick of It' with regulars from the show playing other, new roles within the British government, some akin to their other characters, and some the complete opposites.

Then go and watch series 3 and wait for Tom Hollander, who plays the lead in 'In The Loop', to pop up in the final episode in a very different role.

No clues on new characters yet, although everybody is fully expecting Tom Hollander's 'The Fucker' to be in. Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison are amongst the regulars confirmed to return, and I will say a little prayer each night that Jamie may come back to Number 10!

Simply can't wait for this, personally I think it's the best and funniest thing British television has produced in years!

Same here. The actor who plays Julius Nicholson, Alex MacQueen, pops up in a lot of other modern British comedy as well, of late he played Neil's father in The Inbetweeners.

Did you watch it on DVD matty or elsewhere? If it wasn't on DVD these little extra mini episodes may interest you. Here's the youtube link to the first one, I think there's six in total, if you go into the youtube search it should show them all....

Yeah they are, they're like the deleted scenes but put put together as little webisodes, they sort of fill in the blanks during certain parts of series three. I hope they do it with the series four DVD when it comes out as well.

Any word on a possible film sequel to In The Loop?

I think it's always worth watching it again afterwards if you didn't watch the TV series first because you appreciate those little moments more, like Jamie's introduction in the film.
