It'll be reverting to the original characters - minus Langham, obviously.

Iannucci's said that the reason the characters are different in In the Loop is so that the stories can be kept separate from each other, and that one didn't have to kill off the other.

Digitalspy are reporting the new minister is actually Rebecca Front? What happened to Hollander (not that there is anything wrong with Front).

It was just the earlier post suggesting he was coming to the TV series. And they have kept the show separate in a way?

 The third series has been held back and is unlikely to be on our screens until early 2010 now. It was scheduled to start in the autumn of this year but apparently there have been delays on writing and shooting. Apparently Gina McKee is in it though, as well as Tom Hollander, Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison all returning.

Seems odd the Radio Times site is better updated than the BBCs own site! Wish it would extend to Thurs that week so we could check Spooks too.

BBC4 are reshowing Rise of the Nutters etc next Monday.

Regardless of what Langham did, it doesn't change the fact that the parts he played or some of the material he wrote is hilarious.

Hugh Abbott was a perfect piece of casting. That's not defending his real life actions, but I enjoy watching those episodes as much as I did when they first aired in 2005.

Fantastic episode.  Showed no signs of stalling like some beloved series do when they return.  Thick of It series 2 took off where In the Loop and the Specials left off.  Effortless.

One of the few genuinely funny lines in what I have to be honest was a rather tame opening episode but I reserve serious judgement as Iaunacci and his writing team are fantastic and like with the first series it's best episodes are towards the end, a bit like the film 'In The Loop' as well.
