It'll be reverting to the original characters - minus Langham, obviously.

Iannucci's said that the reason the characters are different in In the Loop is so that the stories can be kept separate from each other, and that one didn't have to kill off the other.

Also I was slightly attracted to her. Is that wrong?

An intelligent and beautiful woman with a sense of humour and the balls to stand up to Malcolm. How could it be?

Digitalspy are reporting the new minister is actually Rebecca Front? What happened to Hollander (not that there is anything wrong with Front).

It was just the earlier post suggesting he was coming to the TV series. And they have kept the show separate in a way?

I sense there is going to be a lot of confusion before this is over. Part of me is thinking that they should just get a new cast for Tucker and Jamie to lord over.

The third series has been held back and is unlikely to be on our screens until early 2010 now. It was scheduled to start in the autumn of this year but apparently there have been delays on writing and shooting. Apparently Gina McKee is in it though, as well as Tom Hollander, Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison all returning.

Great news, or the greatest news ever?

How much you wanna bet those two clips are the only ones without Tucker swearing?

Seems odd the Radio Times site is better updated than the BBCs own site! Wish it would extend to Thurs that week so we could check Spooks too.

BBC4 are reshowing Rise of the Nutters etc next Monday.

Malcolm Tucker is a great character but my personal favourite from the TV series is Hugh Abbott.

"I'm just human. I need to eat, sleep and occasionally take a dump. What are we going to do next? Put that on the evening news! Outside number ten, hey Mr Abbott how was your shit!?"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Langham

quote:

On 2 August 2007 Langham was found guilty of downloading indecent images of children from the Internet but found not guilty of six counts of indecent assault. He was sentenced to ten months in prison on 14 September 2007. However, on 14 November 2007, he won an appeal against the length of his sentence and was released after serving three and a half months.

I can't really enjoy Hugh's character knowing that in real life he was involved in this scandle, Life imitating Art.

I'm not sure why they did the whole 'Hughs on holiday' crap when they could have just replaced him, Ben was ok for one episode, but was a one joke character really...then again in this show even a weak character is ten times better than the average show.

Regardless of what Langham did, it doesn't change the fact that the parts he played or some of the material he wrote is hilarious.

Hugh Abbott was a perfect piece of casting. That's not defending his real life actions, but I enjoy watching those episodes as much as I did when they first aired in 2005.

I know what Langham did but I still think the Hugh Abbott character is still brilliant, I detach him from Langham's hedious crimes.

Yeah, the character's still great. No need to associate him with what the actor did.

Pretty good start to the series - also liking the red button feature, though I was hoping it would be Tucker breaking the 4th wall to harangue the audience.

The Robin Terri scene was fantastic, shoulda been in the cut, it was good, albeit rather slow at times.

Thought it was really good, but...... no Jaimie?  I hope that's not going to be case for the whole season, or maybe they're holding him back for an epic apocalyptic end of season finale or something?

First episode was bloody brilliant. That Jim Bowen 'safe' reference was fucking funny.

Fantastic episode.  Showed no signs of stalling like some beloved series do when they return.  Thick of It series 2 took off where In the Loop and the Specials left off.  Effortless.

Lurved the first episode. Knowing that it's as close to reality without becoming vulnerable to cretinous british libel laws makes it all the funnier.

"Fatty can't go, he knows too much."

"He doesn't know where the rivita is though does he?"

One of the few genuinely funny lines in what I have to be honest was a rather tame opening episode but I reserve serious judgement as Iaunacci and his writing team are fantastic and like with the first series it's best episodes are towards the end, a bit like the film 'In The Loop' as well.
