Just to keep things separate.

The first season is rerunning on BBC4 in 2 epis a week from Monday the 30th March, around 10pm if anyone would like to catch up before S2.

Are they likely to put this on iPlayer as the second episode overlaps with The Wire?

I'm not sure. Does anyone know if shows like Wallander (original) and Montalbano made it on?

I bought s1 of this when it was discussed in the Wire thread but still haven't got round to watching it. I've got 5 eps of s3 of The west Wing left then i'll rattle through it in time for Spiral s2 to be shown. If it's half as good as Te Wire (which i've heard it compared to) i'm in for a treat.

Seems like there are good things on BBC4 that I keep passing over, thanks for drawing attention to this.

Unfortunately a travel schedule is going to keep me from seeing this and iPlayer isn't available here. BBC should let me subscribe. I'd easy pay 50 quid a year to access their iPlayer stuff.

I believe that Wallander was on iPlayer, but you weren't able to download it. Montalbano you could download one of the episodes but not the other. It seems the BBC has a bit of an off arrangement going on.

I still have Spiral taped from when it was first shown, I only ever saw the first 2 episodes, but never finished despite liking them.

Good stuff. Not too keen on the speed-ramping edits, but otherwise looking forward to the rest. Reminded me more of State of Play than anything else.

I saw this. I quite liked it. Fell asleep mid way through the second episode though. Pretty grim themes, pale tones and shaky cam, coupled with the French language and sexy confidence makes for a sophisticated romp through Gay Paree's seedy underbelly. Well it seems sophisticated, what with it being French, and its BBC4 not 1 2 or 3 airing.

Slightly confused by the French investigative process though.

Do you know when they're showing the second series?

The BBC had implied in the early part of this year. But in referring to this rerun I saw a phrase along the lines of 'in advance of the second series showing later this year'. Which kind of implies at least Autumn, I think? Which is a tad annoying, if so.

Gave it a watch this afternoon, and good lord - it's quite brilliant!

This, The Wire, 24, The Apprentice and Newswipe. I've got a busy few months ahead.

Pefect! That's something to fill those empty Wire-less days.

Not sure about this one. I wasn't overly impressed with season 1, seemed too flashy and overstylised. Maybe thats because I was expecting something similar to The Wire.

Storywise, it doesn't look like it. Characterwise? You might not appreciate some of the interactions between them. I'd still give S2 a go, though. If you don't mind possible spoilers for S1 you could ask for a short run through of the characters first.

I havent seen series 1 but have been enjoying series 2 a lot - i dont feel as though im missing anything.  This is the first series in years where I have been watching 1 ep a week and not blasting through a box set.  Its shit.  Box sets are a much better way to enjoy.  Great show though, suprised at how many people i recommended it to who said 'oh i cant do subtitles'.

Audrey Fleurot is terrific. I'm really enjoying the second series so far.

While series 1 was good and the police inspector very sexy, I thought series 2 blew it out of the water and was very strong.
