Interesting idea, although I don't agree with some of the choices.

What the hell!? No destruction of the first Death Star! No Daniel Day-Lewis milkshake action! I'm shocked at you EMPIRE.

Death Proof! When the three girls drive Stunt Man Mike off the road and kick the shit out of him. Punch after punch after punch, then a swift kick to head, knocking Mike down. The girls raise their hands in victory..freeze frame! Then as the credits begin to roll we see Rosario Dawson swing down her hard heeled cowboy boot into Mike's face! Awesome!

Gotta say, I think the Indy one should be first

And there are a number of better Star Wars choices, Obi Wan taking out either Darth Maul, or Anakin would have been good

Or Vader disposing of Palpatine

"I'm Finished" would have been a good choice, but a fun feature none-the-less, well done Empire, although the link on the 300 one leads to a dead end.

This post will try to be spoiler free!

Disappointed with the number one, as that is by no means my favourite of his work. Ones you have earlier in the count down are better and ultimately i felt that number 2 should have been number one.

I also agree with most other people that there were not enough Star Wars ones...

Oh and the one of the greatest finishing moves by a woman...LOTR RotK....hello??? Why wasn't that there????

Empire have messed up another list that's just a bit of fun and doesn't really mean much. They can't get anything right.

The Finish Him that made number one is just a bad joke!

Regardless of the quality of the choices, this article deserves credit for coining the phrase "a 'Bitch, please' insouciance".

I would have liked to have seen either Patrick Bateman's axe to the face or his multiple story chainsaw drop from American Psycho on the list

Don't think it was on the list, but one of my favourites has to be Grosse Pointe Blank and the Death by Pen!!! This film is full of them though, from the sniper scene at the start to the dropping the TV onto Dan Akroyd!! Genius!!!

ok yeah, good list. why the hell was that piss-ant 'Karate Kid' in there though? I can't believe that the 'Mag who makes a living out of slagging off Stallone' added TWO Rambo entries!

Two words... DIE HARD! How can they miss the best and most influential action movie if all time?  McClane's Beretta with only 2 bullets left stuck to his back, and finishing off the final two bad guys, blowing his smoking gun and saying "Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker."... classic.

No love for Keanu "Taller" Reeves? Decapitating Dennis Hopper with a subway tunnel is enough, but hanging on long enough to let the only man scary enough to face down Christopher Walken pitch you a softball for Kiss-off of the year? Pure class

I thought it was a great read - and as mentioned, it was obviously a bit of fun. As a full-blown Commando fanboy, I would have gone for either 'Let off some steam', or 'I lied' as number one!!!!

Any top fifty thats framed by Jack Burton and Arnie is a winner to me.

Thanks Empire for one of the best "greatest" listings ever.
Honourable mention must go to one of my faves. In the Scorpion King when the chief villain Memnon played by Stephen Brand not only takes an arrow in the gut from the Scorpion King. This subsequently launches him off the top of the castle, kebabbed through the flames of his own exploding statue to finally land, burning, with a  hefty thud on the ground. If the aforementioned statue had fallen on him also, it would have been worthy of Wile E Coyote.

Re your Mace/Off entry and wishing you get to see Jango's head drop out of the helmet - if you go back and watch the scene again in slo-mo watch the shadows on the ground after Mace makes his killing strike. You clearly see one round dark shadow become 2 round dark shadows as if something is seperating from the helmet...............

Lethal Weapon 2 should have been on there for sure. At the end when Murtagh shoots Arjen Rudd.

Rudd: Diplomatic Immunity!
(Mutagh shoots Rudd in the head)
Murtagh: It's just been revoked!

Classic.

Couple other posters nailed it perfectly "It's just been revoked" BAM-dead aryan scumbag, bullet to the dome courtesy of Danny Glover and of course "Yippie-ki-yay-motherfucker"  BAM dead terrorist/robber scumbag, bullet to the dome courtesy of Bruce Willis should have been HIGH on the list.

Great list! I agree with most that you have there but I think you're misssing some iconic ones like Joker's Death (Batman 1989), Hans Grueber's fall (Die Hard), the bad guy's death in Breakdown (semi landing on him). These are just a few and I must say it's great to see Kong's battle with the V-Rex's on the list. It's one of the best battles I've seen on screen in years.

Fantastic list, you've just helped me successfully waste 30minutes at work!

Pretty definitive list but I'd like to add a recent one.

Punisher War Zone: Frank Castle walks up to a goon and just punches him through the face. THROUGH THE FACE! As in FIST COMES OUT THE BACK OF THE SKULL!

Eh? I think you'd be surprised at how much Stallone love there is in the office. Especially with The Expendables on the horizon.
