 The trailer looks epic, i'm just a little concerned that its not going to feel very 'transformers-y' . The big ships, and the tentacled robot which is ripping away at the building, dont remind me of anything i've seen in the TF universe before, so im not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet!

I'm still certainly excited, just a little apprehensive!

The naysayers were not wanting more of the same guff again so i say this new direction is the right thing.

Lets just hope the 3D wont be overwhelming.

 This looks incredibl. I was wondering what he was gonna cook up to top the second and first films in terms of FX and action, and this trailer has me very impressed. Can't wait to sit down and watch the trilogy on Blu Ray back to back. I' one of the few who actually really enjoyed the 2nd movie.

 HATE the first film.Didnt go near the second.However that trailer was pretty good and actualy does give the impression that the film has a darker,more hard edged storyline.

Then again it has Shia Le Beauf in it so will probably give it a miss.

 The majority of the plot has been spoilt via an amazon preview of the comic tie in. While the amazon preview has been removed I'm pretty sure if your interested that much you can check out one of the transformer fansite forums, they seem to have grabbed essentially everything. Bare in mind though that it is a comic tie in probably based on an early draft of the script which will have had a few changes.

Like Charlie Sheen Michael Bay is winning, right in the faces of the hackneyed, boring Bay critics, who will already be powering up their PC's in readiness to vomit a load of rubbish from their keyboards about how he is ruining cinema.  This looks AWESOME.  Can't freakin' wait.

 this film will destroy my soul if its goes the 12A porn route with this new chick... all over facebook they're promoting the shit out of it... there was even a poll saying "what do you like best about the transformers films" a choice between the robots,the girls and something else... the girls were winning...WTF?! and the film's fan pages just keeps posting about her all the time...? it's kind of creepy :/ (and how much has she had pumped into her lips??)

if you want to watch a film about hot chicks just watch some porn like everyone else... i just want to see some robots blow up a city and stuff exploding... and lets be honest... Shia le beef's character pulling another hottie? really????

 I remember being more excited after seeing the trailer for part 2 to be honest, but I'll definitely go and see this. All I want is something half decent that actually makes a little bit of sense.

I am worried about having to see this in 3D though... it's hard enough making out what's going on, even on blu-ray at home.

Sure you're not thinking of SOUNDwave? Empire aren't the only vendors saying Shockwave is a new villain....because he is. His story here is that he's been imprisoned by the same humans covering up the moon stuff (ala Megatron in the first film) and when the invasion begins he gets busted out (or maybe busts out and leads the invasion himself). His vehicle form is some kind of Cybertronian tank I believe.

The character you might be thinking of was the satellite-type robot in ROTF - he was called Soundwave and was an update of the classic character from the cartoons that transformed into a cassette player. Needless to say Bay and co rightfully thought that was stupid and set him up as Megatron's comms guy so that satellite makes sense.  A few months back I spoiled myself rotten. The truth is I had no intention to see Transformers 3, the second film was trash and I am surprised they made a third so quickly. I think Revenge of Fallen's flaws was down to the film being rushed and not enough rewrites. Anyway I know all the twists and turns in Transformers 3. I will say the final fight is going to be very interesting compared to Revenge of the Fallen. However it's odd there isn't another trailer especially the film is soon to be release. I might be wrong but I haven't even seen Megatron in the trailer and that trailer is very spoiler free.

Total film have just put their review up....it's terrible...the review, not the film, the guy who reviewed apparently hasn't seen the film as he gets names and plots of the film wrong...and no, I haven't seen the film, but I have read the novel and comic book adaption. He also seems to be fond of megan fox, as he spends ages chastising whitely in her role

I think the TF reviewer's point is that Whitely is so bad she makes Fox looks good in terms of acting, hardlly "fond" of her. Still don't for the life of me understand the casting of a model in the role when any number of capable actresses could've taken it. Whitely seems to have the charisma of the proverbial piece of wood, with constant vacant expression to match. And no, I'm not "fond" of Megan Fox either.

I'd expect Empire to go with 3 stars too

 I saw the film this morning, and its absolutely horrendous, truly terrible cinema. I agree with many of the points made in the TF review (Whitely is excrutiating), but don't think they're critical enough. The political rhetoric contained within is truly bizarre for a film made in 2011, and the misuse of 9/11 iconography is crass, tactless, unethical and downright nasty at times. There was one particular moment that really, really offended me, in which a very famous image from the events of 9/11 are channeled in to something very different, and to say that it left a bitter taste would be an understatement.

Oh, and there are silly little robot sidekicks, that ride dogs and make "shit" jokes. Ken Jeung's character is as offensive a racial stereotype as anything in the second film and, contrary to what Bay claimed, Sam's parents are back, and more annoying than ever. Basically its the same film as Transformers 2, but on a bigger scale.

On a more positive note, the 3D is great, the best I've ever seen, and the central premise, involving a mass scale conspiracy is nice, its just a shame about the execution.

I'm writing my full review at the moment, it'll be up later.
