It's just a gimmick, a ploy, it's advertising for the second movie. The studio are basically saying "Hey, we are so satisfied with the results of our second attempt that LOOK we're already pushing ahead with the third" I seem to recall that this happened just before the release of Men in Black 2 (they were stating parts 3 and 4 were in the pipeline) and look how that turned out. Of course Transformers was huge box office, and I love all Michael Bay movies. Bring it on!
