NBA Jam (On Fire Version)

At 800 points this week.

Snapped that right up. Found memories of NBA JAM & T.E.

Reviews were good for this version so hoping to relive so old school B Ball arcade action!

 As basic and, initially, uninteresting as Minecraft is, it sure eats away at the time! I must have played about 3 hours and I'm still only fannying around with my shelter. Building a Batcave of sorts.

So pretty decent so far, but I've barely scratched the surface.

 I can see it becoming more addictive than Trials. I want to put it on again now, but just know I'll be on it for hours. Just digging up shit and making stuff really eats the time up.

There's a glitch on it though. If you put a bed by a wall, when you sleep, monsters can get in your house. Weird.

Started playing Minecraft last night well from 6 till 11!! time just flew by! Awesome game. I had the bed glitch when i built a new bigger stone house! was annoying and didnt know what i was doing wrong! fixed now though. Monsters spawn at night but some stick around in the morning as well the worst one as well the creeper exploding swamp type monster. When i did the tutorial i built my shelter and it come to my front door. went to sleep still there in the morning at my door watching me sleep! (weird) then i opened the front door killed him and he blew the front of my house off! Bastard! haha

I have it on my phone.

Upon release it was panned as the worst version ...

but they have committed to updating so it should improve.

I checked it out and yeah those monsters are fierce and at night you can't see shit! I assume you can craft a torch or something!?

 I am not playing the 360 version any more whilst drunk. It seems any OCD I have during my more lucid moments, arranging wood neatly, setting out a tool chest, creating my staggeringly long railroad (achievement unlocked on that one, yeah, yeah), my pet pig pen... uh... rock cage... means that a single splash of alcohol in me... um... well, you know, getting back from the pub and tins emerging, puts the wheat where the glass should be, the chests somewhere up a tree and buggery knows what I did with those three chunks of Obsidian. My inner bedroom is now Lava, the Pig has a saddle and there is water on my roof. I believe I must have had 'an idea'. Sponsored by London Pride, Blue WKD and Advocaat.

I've been chomping at the bit to play them since they were announced. I've still got them both on the Dreamcast but I don't really want to whack them on, I'd prefer to check out the HD Redux.

I've still got the Playstation versions of both. I'm assuming a HD upscale will be involved with the new release which is a far more attractive proposition. Old school consoles look shit on HD TV's IMO and I don't have an old school CRT TV.

 I can see HDifying old games getting old real fast as the current gen approaches the end of it's life cycle. It's great to see older titles being given a new lease of life, expecially ones I missed out on first time around but I can see the release schedules filling up with these as game devs start working on titles for the next gen and i can't imagine they'll all be classics like Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Jet Set Radio etc

There's been absolutely no update whatsoever on the Shenmue HD versions getting released though. They were announced on March 16th and back then we were told SEGA had been sitting on them for a year so what the hell is the hold up dammit? There have been ample gaps in the release schedule to have released it so I dunno if there's a technical reason why we've heard jack shit for 6 months. Whatever the reason it's pissing me off.

I still reckon Capcom and SEGA have missed a trick by not re-releasing either of the Powerstone games as well. They've probably missed the boat now but I reckon Powerstone 2 could have been a huge hit on X-Box Live a few years back.

 I think they're missing a trick by not getting some other point & click's ported over like Monkey Island. Unless sales were poor I'd like to see Beneath a Steel Sky and Simon the Sorcerer and the Indy games.

Even going further back and getting the Dizzy games on there.

Yeah I'd love to see the likes of Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Grim Fandango and Simon the Sorcerer on XBLA. It must be a lack of sales that stopped them getting a shiny HD upgrade. I don't think the point n click genre is anywhere near as popular as it was in the 90's. To be honest I wouldn't mind if they just added Achievements and slapped them all on a disc as they are if it's too much bother to update them. Having said that though I have all of the above games, apart from Grim Fandango, on SCUMMVM for the PC so I can play them as and when I want anyway.

The Dizzy games would be amazing. I'm sure I could still navigate through the first 3 games blindfolded.

Awesome. NiGHTS was the reason I bought a Sega Saturn. Turns out is was pretty much the only reason to buy a Sega Saturn (alongside Sega Rally and Daytona Racing) but there ya go .
