Like most of JJ Abrhams he knows how to start it well but can he truly deliver the finishing punch. Lost, MI:3, his story on Cloverfield and the X-Files wannane Fringe are all okay but he seems to leave how they end to someone/s else.
I'm sure Star Trek will be a enjoyable romp and I'll look forward to seeing it, but I'll hold my excitement for Inglourious Basterds, The Expendables and Public Enemies.

They do like using browns and orange colours in this film.

Still - looks great!

A very interesting bit towards the end someone (I think Bana's character) says "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was a different world". So is this how Abrams is rebooting the series by setting it in an alternative timeline? And how come a character would know of the other timeline?

looks quite a bit like Lost in Space (the movie) visually.

Check the prequel comics that are available on Amazon....this will explain the story behind that little quote.

I must admit I was sceptical about this one and was dreading being dragged by my other half to see it (Friday 13th was the last gem!) on the strength of what I've seen it could be surprisingly good!

I'm no trekkie...in fact i'm pretty much indifferent about anything to do with it. However that trailer looks absolutely awesome. This is a film I shall most certainly be going to see.

Thats because it was the Dark Knight music borrowed to use on the trailer.

That looks flippin' ace. Cant wait.

Actually, he said "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another LIFE" so I think he's just refering to his daddykins.
But if I'm wrong that'd be a great way to shut up all the hardcore trekkies who see Shatner as the one and only kirk; 'it's ok guys, its in a parallel world! You know, like in Enterprise when Archer was a baddie, and the vulcan girl had long hair and an incredibly sexy uniform?' simples!

I really can NOT wait until August now *does a little excited dance*

...no matter how you try to pretend it is, THAT is not Star Trek. That is a top-of-his-game director overhauling Star Trek to suit a mass audience.

Still looks great though. I'm personally glad he hasnt mimicked the original formula as it needs something fresh to re-boot the franchise.
Same thing happened with Casino Royale and Daniel Craig haters but that turned out great.

Star Trek's been overhauled numerous times though, this is just the latest. Robert Wise did it in the Motion Picture, Meyers did it with Star Trek II, and so on.

Besides....

Like evildave69, I couldn't give a flying fig about Star Trek. However, despite myself I think that looks pretty flippin' cool. I can't believe it, but stranger things have happened. I just hope that they keep the quality up in the sequels, unlike the other 'Trek' movies.

And, Kal_El, go outside and get some sun.

Ok, so behind Terminator Salvation, this is my most anticipated film this summer.

Can we have a new trailer for Wolverine and Transformers now please?
