Trailer and details:

http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/trailer-for-terminator-2-skynet-edition-blu-ray

The six disc version is the 2 disc blu-ray edition plus the 2-disc Special Edition DVD and the 2-disc Ultimate Edition DVD. Hardly worth it for getting that and a Plastic Skull thing for 70.

If the re-mastered print is any good then the steelbook will be mine...

Meh, the steelbook is more like it. This is just overpriced pap, what a stupid name also, Skynet FAN Edition. The artwork for the steelbook is poor though.

Here is a trailer for the upcoming release:

I really want to listen to the Wisher/Cameron commentary, but not at that price.

Its basically the Ultimate Edition on Blu Ray with nobs on - but nothing new.

The picture and sound will be a step up from the not-long released Blu Ray version (wow they're re-issuing special edition Blu Rays ALREADY?) I'm guessing.  But the version that's out now is damn fine in itself really.  The US version I own (and bought for 5) has both the commentaries, is THX certified 1080p HD with 5.1 DTS, Dolby EX.....

Dont think I'll be paying for this me thinks.  There's nothing new.

Which one has the Cameron/Wisher commentary? I didn't think that was out on R2 DVD.

Cameron's commentary is on the T2: Extreme Edition DVD (R1). I'm sure can get it cheaply on amazon.

Is it the directors cut? I've had the standard on Blu-ray for about 2 years but if it's the DC I'll be double dipping.

This DVD has both the thearical and director's cut.

I think it's the only T2 DVD that has the far supeior theatrical version.

Nope, the R1 ultimate edition DVD released in 2000 has THREE versions of the film. The theatrical(and best)cut, the Special edition, and the even longer special edition which replaces the original ending for the alternate one set in the future with Sarah as an old woman.

As iv said, the Theatrical verson is the best. The only special edition of his films that i enjoyed more than the original release was for The Abyss.

I'll stick with my R1 UE, but I'd still like to hear the commentary.

The german version of this has all 3 versions on it (confirmed by Kinowelt) just like the R1 Ultimate Edition from years back.

Late reply I know...

No, it never came out on DVD R2 but was released on R1 when T3 came out.

The Blu Ray I have is this one - http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=32845

...And was going for 5.  Has the Wisher/Cameron commentary but only the theatrical version of the film all HD'ed up.

Is there any chance this will get a Region 2 DVD release ? I'm assuming DVD releases will eventually be weaned out but I didn't expect it to happen for a while. I assumed that with T4 out now there'd be some new releases for the Terminator films. I wanna get the theatrical version of T2

You serious man?, it's out, I bought it on 2nd June. Has Theatrical cut on it and everything. The steelbook has since been replaced in most stores by the standard Blu-ray case though.

Does this have the Cameron/Wisher commentary?

Have a feeling a big boxset will be released when T:S comes out.

I think I may have been mistaken. This was released on Blue Ray but not on DVD. I don't got a Blue Ray, only DVD

Yeah, I only have the "Ultimate edition" of T2 which is a crap crap crap DVD. It just recycles the Laserdisc extras, some of which are just promo materials. The "commentary" is just a string of interview clips unrelated to what's happening in the film. There's only the "special edition" version of the film which is the longer cut. The feckin theatrical one isn't available on R2 DVD.
