Passport To Pimlico is pretty good, hope you enjoyed Wings Of Desire. I haven't seen it.

Love it. Must get a copy and watch it again. It's been a while.

The Rocking Horse Winner (1949)

Night Train To Munich (1940)

The Cranes Are Flying (1957)

Divorce Italian Style (1962)

Fantomas (1913)

(I realise the last three are foreign films, and it might be argued that I should have included them in the World Cinema section, but they are all pre 1965, so I think they also qualify as classics.)

When I was last in Vienna I visited the Third Man Museum, went on the walking tour of the locations (including the sewers), rode on the Riesenrad (the giant ferris wheel in the Prater) and saw the film at the Burg Kino where it has been playing three times a week for over 40 years. Magic!
One of the greatest films of all time.

I agree. Laughton is great, and Elsa Lanchester is hilarious.

My latest - two by Powell and Pressburger:

A Canterbury Tale

I Know Where I'm Going
