If you actually read this script it's clear that QT is in *no way* doing any growing up. The whole thing is Kill Bill-level mental from start to finish, and realism takes a quick walk out the door as soon as the Basterds are onscreen. The finale is particularly crazy and spits right in the eye of anything remotely approaching historical accuracy.

"the visuals were flat" -- I absolutely agree. The only part that made it feel like a Tarantino movie of the highest order is Pitt pulling close to the camera with "and I want my scalps." It feels as though they're trying to sell QT to a Zach Snyder audience. The generic metal soundtrack is a terrible decision, which -- for a Tarantino movie -- is worrying.

I rarely bash QT, apart from Death proof being AWFUL. However, this looks terrible...really terrible. The concept is awful and the teaser is shockingly bad.

Didn't like the trailer, but then again I'm hardly a QT enthusiast. However I do wonder if the film's DP is actually the great Robert Richardson, for the images (colours & lighting) look shockingly dull. And that Hitler moment at the end... oh dear.

Brad definately is loving the Tarantino dialogue in that speech, especially the bit that about the knives that him and Eli Roth's Sgt. Donnie Donowitz grin with anticipation.
The brief shot of Hitler shouting, 'Nien, Nien, Nien, Nien,' does make him appear slightly comedic but hopefully when the full movie is out he will become more dangerous and nasty.
Should be more Kill Bill part 1 than part 2.

obviously none of us can comment on the movie but as a teaser it did look flat. Infact, it looked fucking cheap as-high-heavens. And Eli Roth just looked out of place. But teasers are meant to do just that,tease. They're supposed to get you salivating,they don't have to be long. Look at the TDK teasers,or 300 teasers and trailers(shite movie but it illustrates my point) or the Transformers 2 teaser. This gave me nil poi!

I read the first act of the script, didn't want to spoil it all, and thought it seemed decent - kind of pulp fiction meets Kill Bill really! Trailer makes me a little nervous though - I agree with the Zach Snyder comment - this trailer reminded me of 300! (Thats not a good thing...). And having read that speech. I wasn't exactly wowed by Pitts delivery of it. However, I'm a big tarantino fan, and enjoyed Death Proof so I'll see it whatever happens

I think the concepts great! More pulpy, sadistic material that Tarantino can sink his teeth into, but if the trailer is anything to go by, and I'm not saying it is, it won't be able to deliver on its promise.

 Yes, the shit metal 300 style soundtrack does it no favours, but it's nice to see it taking shape - here's hoping there's as little Eli Roth as possible.

 It's a Taratino war film. Give it a chance, all you naysayers! If we'd have heard Tarantino was doing a war film 10 years ago everyone would have freaked out. His stock has been lowered through the averageness of Kill Bill and the annoying Death Proof, but don't forget this guy wrote True Romance & Pulp Fiction. He's obviously got it in him and I hope this is the film that gets his career back on track....

 Not a good trailer by any means (didn't feel like a QT film) but it still looks promising and I'm counting on it being excellent as Tarantino films usually are. Plus Brad Pitt is on a role at picking great projects to star in recently and I don't think he would have signed up if he didn't think it could be special.

I am undecided, on one hand it look pretty good with a solid cast (except for the obvious being Eli Roth) but on the other it is a Tarantino film, arguably the most overrated filmaker in the business. Yeah I said it fan boys, Come and get me!

It looks fine to me.  It did offer a few insights IMO --

It'll be violent.
Characters will talk FOREVER (whether or not it'll have that "spark" will be debateable)
It'll be OVERLONG by an hour and be as hollow as a bouncy ball.

... and deliver us a truly abismal film. I am worried this will end up as Hostel with nazis while it should be Kill Bill WW2. And Eli Roth's mental stability worries me more and more as time goes by...

With regards to this trailer (and I realise it is just a trailer but still) it looks like a middling to poor attempt. If Brad Pit is going to be using that accent then I may well get the urge to puncture my own eardrums with a sharp pencil if I ever watch this film. The camera work on show seemed unimaginative and the sets looked poor. The scripting of the speech was unimaginative and I just get the feeling that all the flaws which Tarantino has developed in recent years will be evident throughout.

Hopefully I am wrong but I would be surprised if it turns out I am.
