The fact the Sean Bean was in the Fellowship should have guaranteed them a place on the list but they had a lot of good moments that should have gotten them in there as well. Not least, the last time they're all together in Moria "Nobody tosses a dwarf"

The Lost Boys?? Surely it would be better "hanging" around with them for eternity than a day with the klunge-chumps from Serenity or the walking Daily Mail-cliches from Die Hard??

I like this article but some things seem to be in the wrong order. The regulators should well be better positioned than what they are and also...WHERE THE HELL ARE THE GHOSTBUSTERS!

I went through the list thinking it was great, and the longer I went without seeing the Ghostbusters, the better I felt, knowing for sure that they'd have a high position. When I got to number 2 and still no sign of them, a massive, broad grin spread across my face, so eager was I to see what Empire would classify as their defining moment...

But for FUCK'S SAKE!!! I'm genuinely fuckin' angry about this. The fact they weren't number one would've been bad enough, but to be completely omitted...? I don't think I've ever complained about anything in Empire magazine or on this site, but this is insane.

Is this the top 500 films list? Because if so,Ghostbusters was about number 300 (which is a fucking travesty itself!).

I want to be a member of Wyld Stallions at the end of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey; you've got Bill and Ted, Little Bill and Little Ted, Robot Bill and Robot Ted, Station(s), the Princesses and Death.  Unbeatable.

i would've liked to have seen a Star Wars crew, maybe even the Tenenbaums, although they're a family, not a "crew." I know we'll all want to be a part of The Avengers when that finally comes out...

literally went through exactly the same experience. it beggers belife!

This combined with the travesty that was Ghostbusters ranking in the empire 500 (it was ranked 189th, one place behind school of rock, and several places behind other such unworthy films (although i like school of rock)) makes me wonder if theres any love left for my childhood heroes

Nice list, with some good teams like the mentions of Serenity and Top Secret but where is the Monster Squad they beat the Goonies every day of the week. Also lack of Ghostbusters isn't cool.

That's what make it even more strange, bubba, considering the resurgence of interest in all things Ghostbusters over the last year or so, what with the development of Ghostbusters III, the video game "sequel" with the original cast, Sony announcing new DVD packages to mark the 25th anniversary this year, etc..

But having said that, even if there'd been no Ghostbusters news since 1989, they should still be in the bloody list! (Sorry! Still quite angry about the whole thing! )

Remember guys, it's the coolest crew....
The Fellowship was a goody-two-shoes group, but they were never cool.
Millenium Falcon crew, cool? No, well Han Solo was icecool, but you can't be cool sporting a haircut like Luke did, sorry.
Ghostbusters were awesome fun, and only Bill was cool, Ernie was, well Ernie. Dan and Harold were geeks...nothing cool about that, at least to my knowledge.
The Breakfast Club was a bunch of misunderstood teens. Cool?...undecided.

I like this list

The funniest thing about this post is the use of fuckin' instead of fucking. He really is genuinely fuckin' angry.

Speaking of funny, has no one commented yet on the Aliens clip being dubbed in French? Hilarious!

Woah, the soldiers out of Predator? This is a joke, right? There just a bunch of one-dimensional, right-wing, macho idiots who exist only so we can see an alien warrior kill and skin them one by one.

Ok, I may have overreacted a smidge! I'd had a bad few days, and this was sort of the culmination of that! Still gets on my wick, but I can now complain about it without resorting to swearing.

Cock.

So close.

Well seeing that 80% of the responses here are from people who are not too happy about this list as a whole, how about a list from you guys?! Could be fun to compare. Now the next reply i bet is gonna be: "honestly i cba". I know it's alot of fun to tear things down, but it's also fun to build and show other people your work of art....isn't it? :)

No Dude, you're right. But it isn't important, every guy knows that the Ghostbusters are the coolest movie team-up. I was certain they'd come top too. But really not worth worrying about. Empire just aren't exactly on the button much these days.
