I've just followed a few people. If I haven't followed you, it's because I:

a) Don't know who you are.
b) Don't know what your @thingy is.
c) Clicked the wrong thing.

If you follow me, I can only apologise that quite a lot of my tweets are about Harrogate. I should really have a separate work account, but I don't.

I don't know much about Harrogate, but maybe I will learn.

I hope so.

I read this thread purely to see Homer use the word 'behoove'

unfortunately he likes the word and uses it in real life as well.

It's not used enough. It would behoove you all to use it more often.

Other great apps for Twitter I find, are; "Tweet Adder", which lets you put your account on automation and so is great for days when you aren't going to get a chance to go online that much perhaps. You can also target who you would like to follow and automatically set your tweets to post for you. Yes it costs £25 (at least it did when I purchased it!) but it is so darn useful and that's a one of payment. I honestly wouldn't be without it and you can have up to 4 Twitter accounts on the one adder also.

I think another good idea which I've been doing for the past few months, is tweeting links to my gallery etc in different languages, to target a worldwide audience. Google Translate is also a good idea then to use in conjunction with Tweet Adder. I also use pretty much on a daily basis "Twitter Simbols", which lets you post real smileys instead of the usual ":o)".

OK, yes I admit, I'm a bit of a pedant but if you want a more professional, polished looking profile, all of the above is really worth looking into.

^ That Tweet Adder thing sounds like something that would be hocked by some cheesy man with spiky hair at 1am on the infomercial channel. I'm sure it's useful for big businesses who just want to get their messages out and nothing else, but I doubt it's useful for much else.

I initially thought this was amazing, but then I started going through the tweets and they seemed too...involved. Almost like roleplaying. Then I started clicking through the 'Similar To' links because they were all cats wearing berets and that's funny right?

I found this -

https://twitter.com/#!/search/users/%23wlf

To explain - http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/2011/08/30/the-wlf-exposed/

"Oh Dog! I have become aware of an organization called the WLF, or the Whiskas Liberation Front. This group inhabits the Twittersphere and they all wear funny hats called berets. I, Rumpy T. Drummond, have decided to investigate this group of cats in hats, and find out just what they’re all about!

My investigation revealed that this is a group of Socialist cats that spans around the globe. They also allow other creatures into their ranks, as long as they are sympathetic to the cause.

They have a working blog kept by mascot Eldrid Elephant. This string-soup-eating little guy was a tough nut to crack, but eventually I got some information out of him. For instance, did you know that WLF Comrades resist the oppression of cats and that they campaign for prolific and high quality snacks, such as Dreamies, ham, cheese, sushi and tuna? Oh Dog! These guys eat good!"

Are these guys really ridiculous furries? I don't know, it's bizarre and I want no part of it.

Yeah I suppose it does doesn't it!

You're right however on the business aspect, hence why I actually like it, because you can tweet at prime times of the day when perhaps you can't get online, therefore advertising when people will possibly most notice you. I don't think you would really need it otherwise....

Exactly. It often means if say, Homer and Adam are arguing about something, various other people can jump in.

This thread going mammoth is the only proof that anyone would ever need that this Twitter thing does indeed have legs.

My tweet to empire comment ratio is a massive 3 to 1, which is kinda something when you take in to account I've been on here for 7 years and twitter in 2008 (but didn't start really taking it seriously 'til January 2010).

And here's an eye-watering stat - my 30,549 tweets equal a massive 4,276,860 characters!

So I seem to have more woman hawking their dodgy pornsites than any other type of follower. I'm both confused and disturbed by this.

I'm a nightmare to follow on twitter. I honestly have no idea why I have so many followers, even if half of them are spam.

The new twitter layout is taking some getting used to.

I'm surprised people still use the main twitter page to notice, the only reason I noticed is because people were complaining about it. It looks nicer now, but I doubt I'll veer away from Tweetdeck.

I know what you mean, I absolutely detested it when it first changed. I'm more familiar with it now however but didn't see anything wrong with it before.

I've been using it for ages. I had no idea that some people were still on the old system. Usually with this kind of thing it takes me a while to get used to a change but I found it really easy to navigate and grasp.

On the twitter client issue, I just recently downloaded Tweetdeck since thats what I use on my iPod but on the computer, I pretty much always use the website. I have no idea why. For a long time I used Tweetr but one day that just upped and died and since then I haven't used a client on the computer.

I started. But I'm sorry to say you tweet an awful lot so I had to unfollow.
I've only just started on Twitter mind.
