Krypton Factor is back

quote:

Ben Shephard hosts a new series of the game show, originally presented by Gordon Burns and running from 1978 to 1995. To win a place in the semi-finals, four contestants are tested on their memory, logic and general knowledge, as well as tackling the infamous army assault course, which promises to be more gruelling than ever

Starts tonight on ITV at 7.30pm

But...but Gordon Burns

I watched Krypton Factor repeats on the now defunked Ftn and Ive got to say, its retrospectively incredibly boring.  I really hope they jazz it up a bit, because the old one is dull dull dull

I used to watch those repeats and thought it stood up pretty well to be honest. Even the really old ones from the late '70s. It was quite interesting to see how the flight simulator changed over time too.

But, yeah, replacing the legendary Burns-meister with Ben Shephard is just plain wrong.

I was reading this thread and for some reason I was thinking of The Crystal Maze. It was only when I got to the part about the army assault course that I twigged. I think they should bring back The Crystal Maze too.

Apparently the only difference in the program is that the flight sim bit is no longer included.  The assault course is so rough that people have been sick while performing it

The assault course is the only section that stands out in my childhood memories of watching it but when I watched repeats it all came rushing back.  Especially the block puzzles with Burns whispered commentary.  It was brill!  But yeah...dull

Ben Shephard is possibly the most bland man on televison.  I wonder if we'll hear the contestants talking about 'their journey'.

This would win first prize in 'how not to update a TV series'.

garbage. questions too difficult so the "joining in" element is gonw. and as it me or was the assault course incredibly dull?
