So theres me and Tech Noir who admit to being fans of this show. Surely there must be others. And remember this is the original and not the crappy new one! (I say crappy, I gave up after the first few episodes but hear it got better?)

I haven't seen all these, but i'm currently rewatching and nearly at the end of season one. Such a good show!

I'm guessing Zaphod will emerge as a fan, if not mate, "aquire" them and become one

I'm afraid I'm out of the "acquiring" business. And no I'm not a fan, never watched any (but I saw the first 2 ep's of the new one ) and TBH it really doesn't look like my thing, yes I know I like Gilmore Girls etc but this is one step too far, one I will be avoiding in any case.

Beverly Hills 90210 was pure glossy early 90s fantasy but I loved it.

Brandon and Brenda first day was great fish out of water stuff.

I think I kinda loved Brenda because she wasn't the typical stick thin pretty girl, still would now though so eh!

Dylan was probably the coolest person to walk a high school since the Fonz

I wanted to slap Andrea though for the way she insisted her name was pronounced.  I didn't watch 90210 all the time, but I did with My So-Called Life, I thought that was brilliant.  Even if I was probably too old to be watching it at the time

Andrea Zuckerman, I think that was her name.

Can't believe I remember it after all these years.

She's such a self righteous little cretin that one! Can't stand her. Really dislike Brandon and Brenda's mum also!

I watched that on DVD earlier this year, really good show, pretty heavy stuff though.

I loved it until I got my own place and I couldn't afford Sky.  I think I left it when Kelly lost her memory (my memory tells me she was shot) and after that do not know what the hell happened.  I started watching it on Sky 1 about two years ago but they stopped the repeat run after series 3.  I was looking forward to the new series on E4 but if its as bad as you are saying I think I stick to my Prison Breaks and 24....

She cheated on him after half an episodes worth of problems! Horrid little woman.

Guilty. I watched the new one up to about halfway through. I think to the bit where Kelly and Brenda get into their first little tiff. It was the end of Brenda's three or four ep arc on the new one. I hear it's gotten really good. But I dun know. Silver is hot but is a bit up her own arse. Annie is a robot. Dixion is ok, Naiomi is hot and I thought she'd be the new Valerie but she is just a mess, always crying. It needs a bitch and it needs a Dylan. If these things happen let me know and I'll jump back in. Kelly is still hot .

Valerie Malone was one of the best tv characters ever, never mind 90210. Soooo fit and cool. She went through the fellas though didn't she. It's sad, I heard Thessin beau died a few years ago and she doesnt act no more. Lovely lookin woman though.

Finished Season One last night. Great ending even if was complete nonsense. Jim Walsh changing the plans of the whole family and not moving away to start his brand new highly paid job because of some speeches by Brandon and Brenda's friends  Still it was nice and uplifting.

Also the "we really need to think of some sort of a cliffhanger" problem was resolved with a simple "i'm late" by Brenda, which wasn't even hinted at throughout the episode. Love it!

Remember loving watching this back in the day.  It was huge!  My favourite character was definitley Kelly.  Being an impressionable teenager at the time, i just wanted to live their lifestyle.  It was IMO great escapism.

As for the new 90210 it's disappointing and not a patch on the original so far.  I was looking forward to seeing a new generation but it is all over the place.  Still watching though.

Just wanted to add that i loved watching for the fashions...but stopped watching when Sky got it

Ive been considering buying the first season on dvd but I was unsure about how well it would have dated - so worth buying then?

Its a strange one because it really has dated but at the same time it doesn't matter. I'm watching it from the beginning and i'm nearing the end of season 2 and really enjoying it. Plus the boxsets are so cheap that its worth the risk.
