I hope the Oscars look like these nominations too. The Dark Knight deserves two nominations imo Ledger for supporting and for a score.

Haven't heard word on Australia yet, but thought I might see it pop up here. Was it released in time? Or is it a bit underwhelming?

Although it would have been good to see Dark Knight get a few more noms, it's nice to see In Bruges gets a few. Am I the only one that thought Tropic Thunder was a big load of pish?

I'm sad to see The Dark Knight missing out on Best Motion Picture, and will probably on the Oscar as well. I can only say its a huge shame as the film had me on the edge of my seat the entire 2 and half hours! and its box office success speaks for itself. Can't the people at WB lobby harder? But TDK winning the Empire award would be enough!

Could it be that The Dark Knight, apart from Ledger's performance, isn't really anything special?

If anyone deserved best supporting actor from The Dark Knight it was Aaron Eckhart.

I knew a bit about them but it seems a backlash is building...

and when Mamma Mia gets nominated but TDK doesn't in the picture category, I have to agree!

carefactornil seems to have not realised that TDK isn't a comedy or musical...

anyway TDK wasnt all that, and none of you fanboys have actually seen any of the 5 nominated films so you can't make any comment till you've seen. 3out of 5 those i reckon will be better than TDK (i'm not so excited bout Slumdog or The Reader).
i for one think it's a pretty good list, the comedy stuff i've mostly ignored (i really am not a fan of film comedy, especially not Tropic Thunder or Pineapple Express) and glad to see Ledger get a nom at least, he was very good.

really hope TCCOBB sweeps the board.

OH DEAR ONLY ONE NOM FOR TDK? - 12/12/2008 9:52:33 PM

I am disappointed but not surprised the TDK only had one nomination for the Golden Globe Awards. The should have two contenders for best supporting actor, Heath Ledger and Aaron Ekhardt. Best Picture and Best Director. Chris Nolan got the best from his actors. What about set designs and art direction? surely they should be nominated as well. I think that the members of these panels of experts that nominate films, dismiss TDK as another "comic book" film and not to be taken seriously. Well, shame on them!

I'm excited to see the outcome. I think the nominations are very well thought out. TDK didn't deserve that many nomination anyway, and i'm glad to see some under-rated actors/actresses get a chance, such as Kate Winslet who hasn't won any awards that she's nominated for and Javier Bardem is just amazing.

Dark Knight should have defiantly be nominated. Second highest grossing film, every review I've seen of it has been given 5 stars. It should have definatly have had nominations for best screenplay and best picture.

How the hell have Cruise and Downey Jr been nominated?
That film was average at best and they don't come close to Heath or Hoffman. I hope Ledger win's his peformance was un-real!!!
