Read this yesterday afternoon (after finishing Let The Right One In!) and I really enjoyed it, in fact I think it's a more enjoyable read than the Harry Potter series. Admittedly, it's nowhere near the size of that universe but all the better for it IMHO. Also, I got my copy from Tesco for 3.49 and 1.61 from every sale goes to JK's childrens charity.

I haven't read it yet but several copies have been bought for family members, including the 50 Amazon special for my mum.  At the moment I'm doing that putting my fingers in my ears and going lalalalalalala if anyone says anything about anything in it.

I still feel sorry for the people who paid over a million pounds for a handwritten copy believing that it was never going to be published and they were going to have a true limited copy only for it later to turn up in the shops. I bet they are still spitting blood

To be honest Sanchia, if you can afford to spend over a million pounds for a handwritten manuscript then you're not really going to be too upset for it being published for a fiver!

You are if you are a real collector who believed that only you and a select few others were going to have access to the stories. Maybe that is why they paid over a million rather than 100,000?

A true collector would make sure that it was signed and dated.  As a collector of first eds and proof editions I should know!

Mrs Jonson just read it and said it was shit. I might read it next and give a more detailed review.

It's Rowling, it's handwritten, it's still worth a fortune. I don't think they'd care.

I think the only sold one was to Amazon - and they are the ones selling the limited edition and getting the cash for that (as well as the donation to charity). 6 other handwritten ones were given away.

So it wasn't a collector - Amazon made clear from the start the purchase was for 'their' readers.
