I've decided not to like Clint Eastwood any more since I saw him on television a couple of days ago speaking at a Republican convention in support of Mitt Romney.

It gave me the same kind of creepy feeling that I got when I saw Charlton Heston - by that stage well into the throes of senile dementia - speaking at an N R A rally in support of America's gun laws.
Plus I think that if Romney is elected to the presidency, he'll make Bush look like Mahatma Gandhi by comparison.

I agree, he's done some excellent work, but I think his output over all has been patchy.

I look forward to another year of film quiz posting.
Am reading Mark Kermode's The Good,The Bad and The Mulitplex and nodding in agreement the whole first chapter..
Moral of the story .. before we all become a mass get taken over by the conglomerats support your local cinemas,they need you !

I very almost bought that Kermode book the other day. I don;t always (often) agree with his reviews (How could I? He hates Pirates of the Caribbean

) but I find him very entertaining.

And the drought continues. It's been two months now without rain, and the whole of the North Island has been declared a drought area. Rain has been forecast for this weekend, but frankly I'll believe it when I see it.

Well we have had bucket fulls of the wet stuff today and more forcast,wish we could send you some Sieg..

Sieg I noticed you had watched Hush Hush ..Sweet Charlotte recently,it was on one of our channels last night but Mr M wanted to watch a docu on Mallory and Irving which actually was fasinating but I really wanted to watch that film again ages since I've seen it,I'm such a Bette fan. Not one I own and really should rectify.

We've had more rain overnight, and most of this morning, but it's just been light. What we need is a good, steady downpour for a couple of days.
As for Hush... hush, Sweet Charlotte, I picked up a copy from the bargain bin at my local video store a couple of weeks ago for $4. I have to say, it was not as good as I was hoping - far too long, very over the top with Miss Davis overacting to the max.
Apparently, the original intention had been to cast her with Joan Crawford again, following the huge success of Baby Jane, however Crawford had to pull out due to failing health and Bette suggested her best friend Olivia DeHavilland for the role of Charlotte's evil bitch of a cousin. The story goes that on the first day of shooting Bette and Olivia - both of whom hated Crawford's guts - toasted each other in Coca Cola, a further dig at Crawford, who was married to the CEO of Pepsi Cola.
Say what you like about Bette, the lady had style.
