I cant see why Bond can't be any race, typecasting by ethnic background should face serious sanctions. There are many class actors around, they should all be considered.

How about Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionaire in the future ?

Ah now, what about biopics? I know that Bob Dylan film cast a black kid as young Bob (haven't seen it so not going to comment) but surely for accuracy's sake. It's in an interesting topic of discussion. Like would it be OK to cast a black man as Winston Churchill or someone of Asian origins as President Kennedy?

I'm pretty sure it's perfectly legal to cast by ethnic background for authenticity purposes.

I don't think the colour for HorseBond matters but I think breed could be an issue; obviously HorseBond can't be of racing pedigree but we don't want Budweiser Clydesdale either

No matter what it should really be down to which actor can portray the character better. Personally I think Idris would be more suited to a bond villain and could do an excellent job.

Django's a great example of a character that has successfully managed the transition from white actor to black without the world ending actually. And speaking of Jamie Foxx, he's recently been cast as Electro, a traditionally white character in the Marvel universe.

I guess you're right tho. Black actors are truly spoiled these days, with both Black Panther and Blade to fight over...
