lol, Fair enough that wouldn't really work, I mean it could be done but it would leave a pretty big plot hole.
Obviously there is exceptions for the race of an actor, like a white guy playing Tom Robinson, but I'm pretty sure a black man could work as an English spy.

I got a bit bored of this conversation once everyone stopped talking about Horsebond.

At least we can all agree that Horsebond is obviously the future.

I don't think I mentioned how great a pun "Dr. Neigh" actually is, being that Sean Connery is Scottish and Scottish people tend to say neigh instead of no coupled with the fact that Horsebond, who is a horse, would make that noise.

It works on so many levels.

Donkeybond sounds pretty cool but really he's the poor mans Horsebond,

Midgetbond could possibly ride Horsebond?

It might annoy Horsebond though and make him stab Midgetbond in the neck with a corkscrew. (Horsebond likes a mixture of high and low tech gadgets for some reason)

Obviously there are certain roles that can only/should only be played by people of a certain race but there are some that can be interchangeable, I suppose.

 The complaints can become ridiculous occasionally. Some criticism aimed at Affleck for playing a Hispanic (apparently some people haven't realized that speaking Spanish or coming from a Hispanic nation DOES NOT MAKE YOU A RACE) in Argo are ridiculous.

On the other hand, casting John Wayne as Genghis Khan is absolute daftness.

Exactly, you can't do that in a serious film these days. You couldn't get away with a white man playing Charlie Chan, for example, either.

I really don't. The stories aren't that closely related in the book. There is no suggestion that the characters are "the same" across the six story strands. Using the same actors in the film smacks of getting their money's worth. "Damn, if we're paying for Tom Hanks, he's going to be in the whole thing, not just 1/6th."

Doesnt having the same actors help the audience attach to the characters? How many actors would they have had to hire if they did different ones for each story. Though if they are unrecognisable in some then..... i dont know what im talking about here.

James Bond is a white dude. 007 is not. If the head honchos really wanted to reinvigorate the franchise and give it a new look (the new films that this is definately not needed) then I dont see why James Bond cant be killed off and a new agent take the 007 title. As far as im aware, they have run out of books to base new films on, but DC at least has to come back to defeat Quantum - i need to know what happens dammnit!

Unfortunately at age 49 hes too old to start playing Bond.Besides hes been in three Brosnan Bonds as a different agent.

Good actor though.
