OK, I can forgive this list a lot for including Peter Venkman and Ed from Shaun of the Dead, but there are a lot of problems with it. Tyler Durden at #1, and Charles Foster Kane at #98??!! My personal choice for #1 would have been Vito Corleone, who's at #10, but other good choices for #1, such as Atticus Finch or ET, are much farther down the list. And it's rather absurd to have two Harrison Ford characters in the top ten. Maybe Han Solo deserves to be in the top 100, but not the top 10 -- and I wouldn't have included him at all if Obi-Wan Kenobi was omitted. Most disappointing of all, though, is the omission of Sean Astin's Samwise Gamgee, especially considering that Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn is included. Remember, this is supposed to be a list of great movie characters, not literary characters. No way does Mortensen's profoundly mediocre portrayal of Tolkien's exiled king deserve to be included on any list of the greatest movie characters of all time.
