I think this is the longest I've gone without watching either ALIEN or ALIENS! The blu-ray set still sits unopened on Snake-Eyes' shelf. Soon...

Prometheus is THE movie that I am dying to watch , even more so than The Dark Knight Rises! Come on, Ridley's first sci fi film since Blade Runner nearly 30 years ago? Trust me, i'll be first in fucking line!!!

It'd be great if audiences were given the opportunity to see ALIEN and PROMETHEUS as a double-bill on the big screen next year. I've been lucky enough to see ALIEN: Director's Cut twice at the cinema and the digital presentation at the ODEON Leicester Square simply blew my snake-bo**ocks off!

One thing I find amusing about this film is that it was released just 2 years after Star Wars and everybody must of thought 'cool another Sci-fi movie, I loved Star Wars'. Many of those people probabaly couldn't sleep for a week after watching this.

I only got to see it once on the big screen,but on the plus side it was back in 1979,it's first release.

But i'd love to have seen it in the ODEON Leicester Square,that's where a good friend of mine seen it in 1979,he never recovered from that i can tell you.

y'know, I've been thinking (oo-er!), much as I'm looking forward to Ridley's return to sci-fi with PROMETHEUS, I just know it won't be anywhere near as awesome as ALIEN. yes, I know, it's pointless to even compare the two but that original 1979 film set such a high standard for the genre and I believe it simply cannot be matched. Probably just talking bo**ocks but I guess we'll see soon enough.

well, seeing that 'teaser' of the teaser for PROMETHEUS certainly has me jazzed and I'm looking forward to watching ALIEN on blu-ray over the silly season!

Anyone else hate the facehuggers? How they're very fast and that chirping/slithery sound they make.Even though I don't like A:R, I loved how Ripley managed to rip one off her face whilst submerged in water.

Yeah they're way more frightening in the first couple movies, I love how strong they seem in Aliens when the try and pull the tail from Ripley's neck

The facehuggers are arguably scarier than the Xenomorph itself, possibly due to them being Arachnid like.

Seeing the teaser for PROMETHEUS has got me soooo pumped! The 'Alien' fanboy in me ouldn't help but dig up my old ALIEN WAR pics - great days! Lookin' forward to re-watching Ridley's original classic on blu-ray soon

Excellent teaser of a trailer,very much in the style of the original A L I E N trailer,and of course the cat is out of the bag,this is the prequel to Ridley's masterpiece.

Snake-Eyes finally watched ALIEN on blu-ray last night (needed cheering up, couldn't wait 'til tomorrow) and it looks and sounds Fan-frakkin'-tastic! This really is one of those films that makes me feel spoilt as a film fan. Simply GORGEOUS. Sir Ridley, I thank you and I look forward to PROMETHEUS.

So far all three of the Alien films look great on Blu Ray have yet to watch Alien 4.

This film is like fine wine,the older it gets the better viewing experience it becomes.

From the famous Derelict scene,to the horrifying chestbuster moment, to the final showdown between the Alien and Ripley, who sends it flying into orbit.

Brilliant cast,brilliant special effects and a brilliant score.

Beautifully chilling film.

Yes, Alien is the original and by far the best in the series! Ridley Scott was on fire when he made this, and on such a small budget, the special FX still hold up very well to this day and the costumes, sets and Alien itself are legendary! Without Alien sci-fi horror wouldn't be what it is today. Almost every scene in the movie is unforgettable too which is an amazing achievment in itself. The character development is damn fine too and with a cast including Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, John Hurt, Yaphet Kotto and Veronica Cartwright there is some excellent performances that make for absolutely essential and compelling viewing.
In my humble opinion Alien is one of the very rare films that has almost achieved complete perfection. 10/10

I think its one of those things, you can love it or hate it.
The first time I watched it when it first came out I found it too far fetched, but I watched it again about a month age and loved every gory second of it.
Having said that, yes, I think its one of the classics of its type for sure.

Now this is something I've never heard levelled at Alien before.

I always found this film to be very grounded and natural (especially in the approach of the actors, it almost feels ad libbed in some group scenes) and I would have thought this was one of the reasons it is so accessible and 'believable'. Ok, it's a haunted house story, so you have to have characters on their own to set up specific shocks, but I never felt that these instances were in any way contrived or far fetched.

Interesting, and I'd love you to elaborate please.
