During the credits, almost near the end, there's a three odd minute infomercial for, spoilers by the by...

"Zack and Miri Make Your Porno!" as a new business venture, we see Zack and Miri sharing last names, and the other characters are all doing well in the venture, laughs and happy endings, good times.

Laugh out loud comedy, everybody in this movie but their best foot forward. Not Smith's best (that would be Chasing Amy) but it's far better that Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Nice to see a different style for Kevin, shot very differently than most his films. One real odd editing problem, while they were auditioning the porn actors, it was obvious the actors were in a house but for some reason Z&M were in an auditorium, didn't quite get that. Funny as fuck and cute as my nipples, loved it.

Loved it. Not Smith's best but his best is hard to match but still it took the ridiculously silly and made it ludicrously funny in a way I think the likes of Apatow and co. have failed to do since 'Superbad.' Jeff Anderson is a unique waste of comical talent, how comes he hasn't had more work since 'Clerks'? Some great one-liners and entertaining and fixating all the way through, good to know one comedy genius still has it.

This was a very funny film. I love seeing Jason Mews in anything and as usual he was great. Seth Rogan did his usual bit but was funny. But the supporting cast really made it, with some great one liners and very loveable characters. Well done Kev!

If they had made this a balls-out satire on the amateur porn craze, this would have been much better. There was no need for the romantic plot between Rogen and Banks, it ruined what could have been a cracking film. If they had to include it, they should have given it to Judd Apatow to direct to make it genuinely affecting, like he did with Knocked Up. Not like this cheesy crap. And Kevin Smith's career has been in steady decline since the original Clerks film, i dont understand why he's revered as a comedy great. Clerks 2 was embarrassing, and this is only slightly better. Only Mewes and Robinson come out of this well. The best joke in it, aptly, involved shit.

Dick and Fart jokes of the hightest quality. You'll laugh from start to finish. Just when you think its about to get too mushy, in steps Mr Mewes to pull it back. Brilliant!

Think Being John Malkovich but swap Spike Jonze for Kevin Smith, replace Malkovich with porn and you now have, Being a Dirty-Minded Teenage Boy’s Wet Dream, which pretty much sums up Zack and Miri Make a Porno to a tea. That is if the literalness of the title didn’t already give the game away.

The film sees long-time friends and roomies Zack and Miri commuting within dead-end lives. After their less than glittering ten-year high school reunion, which ends with them mulling the state of their financial woes, the pair decide the only solution out of their debacle is to make a skin flick… drum roll please… and not just any skin flick, oh no, I give you Star Whores (It wouldn’t be a Kevin Smith movie if it didn’t have some sort of Star Wars reference in it, now would it?)

Though mildly entertaining and littered with comic interludes the story is largely tired and frustratingly predictable. What with its telegraphed jokes and uneven mood; a message to Kevin Smith, you can’t jump from XXX to PG13 rom-com territory and back again within the same sequence. It just doesn’t work my friend.

Fortunately for the good graces of Seth Rogen’s goofy but loveable charm and Elizabeth Banks comic sensibility the film isn’t completely unbearable, however, one can’t help but long for the days when Kevin Smith made films like, Clerk’s and Dogma. Zack and Miri Make a Porno is evidence that Smith still hasn’t been able to rid himself of that potent turkey Jersey Girl scent.

i had two hours to kill this afternoon so decided to take in a screening. first things first - as a teenager i loved kevin smiths films. mallrats was a late night tv classic for me and my friends. there will always be a special place in my heart for that film, along with clerks and chasing amy. dogma was great too, and while, as a film its pretty dire, jay and silent bob struck the right chord at the time. i was one of the few people that actively enjoyed jersey girl, even to the point that i was disapointed when smith returned to the view askewniverse with clerks 2, although after seeing the film i was grateful he did. and while over the years i think i have maybe grown out of enjoying his films in the same way as i did as a 17 year old, i have always had time for them, and always, at the very least, enjoyed them.

unfortunately that ends with zack and miri.

not being a fan of seth rogen was always going to prove a problem. i cant help but think just how much funnier this film would have been had someone like jason lee played the role of zack, alas that is beside the point, the film suffers from something much more severe than a simple case of mis-casting. smith's dialogue simply isnt funny to me anymore. emphasis on cursewords in lieu of genuine wit is one thing, but the long held problem that smith cant write dialogue for women has never been more obvious than in zack and miri. take into account the bizarre treatment of banks' character at certain points and you have a film thats perspective is borderline misogynistic at certain points, reminiscent of the more particular over zealous internet geek-sites that smith himself ripped apart in jay and silent bob strikes back. by the way he writes it sounds like he doesnt have a clue about women.

there were a few positives; craig robinson had some great lines, they even raised a chuckle, and jeff anderson is always great value, if not slightly jarring when out of the comfort zone of randall. justin long's voice was a sound to behold and it was great to see brandon routh back actually doing something. overall though i just couldnt help but feel like smith didnt have anything to say, yet was still managing to say it badly.

Not quite up with Kevin Smith's best work, but definitely worth a watch. Smith fans won't be disappointed.

This was a film that surfaced very late on my radar of upcoming films, probably due to the promotion of such films as Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express in the same genre.

When I did eventually see the trailer and personnel working on this project I was intrigued to say the least. A project with Kevin Smith directing and Elizabeth Banks and the ever hilarious Seth Rogen starring surely would have fantastic results and honestly it does.

The jokes are great, the acting is great and the direction is, that’s right, great.

Smith shows that he is a master in this genre with every scene being perfectly shot and you can really tell true progression in his work as the romantic aspects of the film are done as well if not better than the laugh out loud scenes he has become famous for. The music which I believe Smith also had a hand in choosing is also just right with every track flawlessly accompanying the visuals.

Banks gives a much better performance in this after a stonker in Meet Dave. She is really back on form as girl next door, Miri. She has the magic quality of great comic timing and acting expertise to sell her character to the audience perfectly.

Rogen, as he always does, gives a side splitting performance and probably has one of the finest comedy brains around. The only minute criticism I would have is that his character is very similar to those in previous films. This being a person with potential who doesn’t fulfil it and hopefully this will not lead to him becoming type cast. However, in the romantic scenes you can see real development in his acting and, with work; he will have a real advantage over actors in the same genre.

Honourable mentions must go to Justin Long and Brandon Routh who both give great cameo performances in one of the funniest scenes, which a nun would struggle to laugh at the subject matter is that hilarious. Craig Robinson also deserves a mention as he is also very good.

In conclusion this film lives up to the hype and cements Rogen and Smith as premier acts in this genre. Banks has also done her cause no harm. As I referred to earlier, the similarities in Rogen's character and predictable ending prevents this film from having a higher rating.

This was really funny. Im a big fan of Kevin Smith. While this is not as good as some of his past films it still held its own. I think Elizabeth Banks is the one to watch in terms of female comedy actresses.. crude, rude with great characters...one to watch.....

Kevin Smith`s newest film is all that you can expect from a film with such a name and being directed by Smith. There are enough funny scenes in there and there`s quite a bit to laugh. But the poo and pee jokes kept flying around, a bit too much.
An entertaining comedy for as long as it lasts but surely nothing more than that.

This is the funniest film I've seen in ages. and the cast is excellent. If you need to watch a film that is funny, has a heart and defo will have you talking about it afterwards then watch this film it will make you smile and laugh your arse off.

also to TheGodfather review below there is only 2 at the most pee and poo (as you put it) jokes in the entire movie and one is a major laugh out loud moment. So which film are you talking about? go watch being john malkovich with Danni and stop squatting down here with us lesser mortals who thought this was a hilarious film and great time at the cinema.

I have to say I found this a disappointment, while its better than Jersey Girl this is far from Kevin Smiths best. Not totally without merit (mostly due to Craig Robinson and Jason Mewes), it just seemed that huge portions of the film dragged by without any laughs, and the 'emotional' scenes between Rogen and Banks fell flat.

I know that you're not expecting Wildean wit from a Smith film, but I think he needs to do better than having huge portions (oo-er) of the script contain nothing more than lists of spoof porn films which had already been to death long before this film went into production (on this forum for a start, which makes me wonder where hes getting his inspiration from these days).

Away from the View Askewniverse this firmly holds its own. It straps you in and takes you on a filthy journey that we want to watch. The language is foul, the jokes push boundaries and casting is spot on. It may follow conventions a little too closely for many expecting something more risqué from the man who bought us Clerks but ignoring that, Zack and Miri give us an entertaining couple of hours that is hilarious, memorable and re-watchable.

Judd Apatow has proved frequently that is more popular, but, based on this evidence, he is yet to outdo Smith in terms of merit; sure Apatow’s got a 40-year-old virgin, but Smith’s got an innate and unbeatable wit, sugar-coated with a patent for hilariously foul-mouthed verbosity. Oh, and he’s got R2 T-Bag. Take that, unplanned pregnancy!

For me it's Smith's weakest film. I had high hopes for this but to be fair he had a mountain to climb after "Clerks 2" (Which was my film of 2006).

Great title but a poor film, which is a shame.

It barely had a few laughs. It made me feel uncomfortable, really. I thought the best moments were at the beginning, when they were freezing their bums off in their house and that junk of a car. I blind bought the blu ray after hearing good things about it, and got rid of it the day after I watched it. Rogen and Banks had no chemistry, and I thought she looked uncomfortable when she had to make out with Rogen. What's up with the idea of pairing a douchebag like Rogen with hot actresses anyway?! He should have stayed a supporting actor, yet somehow he became "a star", lol!
Maybe I'm getting too old for this shit...
