Why should Paul Newman get a cover? All he did was release a range of salad dressings.

Well it looks like a spoof to me. Spock looks all plastic and Kirk looks like a model from Team America! The original photo is so classic, this was doomed to failure. With regard to the new film, I wish the producers could spend the time and effort creating something original. Just think of all the wonderful sf novels that could be adapted. Hollywood needs vision.

ubergeeks of the world rejoice. but cant the rest of us have a less embarassing cover to buy? maybe a bond one? a shot of Daniel Craig stood next to an Aston DBS'd do nicely. or maybe Olga and the Ford Ka. (I'm Sure Ford'd be happy about Empire putting their new 500.. sorry.. Ka on their cover) or a shot for Gran Torino woulda been cool. Even High School Blimmin Musical'd be less embarassing than this.

Worst. cover. ever. wouldn't be so bad but they just look like they're posing in their bedroom before some trekkie convention. probably listening to justin bloody timerlake too. maybe some 13 year old girls might like it...

Lucas had his Howard the Duck, Spielberg his 1941. Now JJ Abrams will outdo both of them with Star Trek 2009(0210)!!
These two look like they belong in an all male porno shoot, not Star Trek.

Dear sweet lord, thats fucking KIRK? looks as camp as a row of tents.that guy should try to get a job in some shitty teen drama set in the 'valleys',not his fault but that photo does not strike me as the original Star Trek.give it a miss methinks.

After a few great covers (um, the last 101), we get a serious contender for the worst cover ever. Seriously, I think I like this one even less then the John Cusack half-face cover...
Never heard of these two, but they look gayer than Marcel Marceau...

When do we get to see Kirk in the gold shirt? Does he wear the gold shirt? Please tell me he wears the gold shirt and not black throughout the movie.

hmmm, worthy of a cover? maybe as you know more about treks possibilities than we do at the moment.
not the WORST in my opinion but sorry guys, the photographer screwed this up royal. you reckon you have replicated the iconic pose but the angle, lighting and poses are totally different. the only similarities are the blue background and the fact that spock is on the left!

...oh and my opinion of the argument about cover choices - the plain white cover is a good idea because then you could supply it with a pack of crayons and we could draw our own! yay!

This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode.

BUT, I hate these promo shots. Seriously crap. They look like make-up tests. The actual shots from the film are far, far superior and get my blood pumping with excitement. J.J. quickly get a lid on the promo shots here. They're not good, and I am surprised they were allowed.

Sorry Empre, but this is just a really bland cover. Having your cover star wearing the same colour as the cover background should be included in a list of ' What-Magazines-Should-Not-Do'.

Unlike some people I get it Empire. It looks kind of retro.
You cant have blockbuster poster style covers every month now can you people, cause that would be boring.

Hey you guys,

Ive read some of the posts and its just a magazine cover, its not the bloody film, i think some of you people need to venture out doors and take a look at the real world, because i for one are looking forward to the film and im grateful to empire for getting information of one of the most secret films. As a fan who ventures outside i dont really care how the cover looks.

I think the really uptight ones here need to go and get l**d

This certainly doesn't whet my appetite for more Star Trek. This is downright cheesy.
The actors look like your typical television sci fi soap opera players. Even just looking at Shatner and Nimoy next to these two in a simple photo, shows the incomparability in the quality of the actors. They look foolish. Sorry, guys. I hope this is not a preview of the movie.

What the hell is wrong with Quinto's right eye? It looks very strange. Can't say it's the most inspiring cover either...

Edit: Technically I mean his left eye, but I meant right from our perspective...

Good job the content is on par though. And a good tribute to Paul Newman too. But has anyone else seen that really weird photo in the Star Trek feature where it looks like there's an eyeball perched on top of the Enterprise?

Putting Pine and Quinto's photo next to Shatner and Nimoy's doesn't put this flick off to a great start marketing wise. I don't mind them keeping the color scheme for the uniforms, but a styling similar to what we saw the crews wear in the last Matrix movie would have been pretty cool. Two hundred years into the future I think space travelers will still want to dress for functionality. I prefer that we put the franchise to rest.

Well done "jj" If the trailer is anything to go by... it`s money well spent!. For he die hard followers, this has got to be a refreshing new spin on a old, tired franchise. For those who can`t quite get to grips with the young kirk and spock you`ve got to get your hands on Bill Shatners"COLLISON COURSE" Now that will get you in the mood for this movie!!
