This show is probably my favourite at the moment. So funny, with such imaginative scenarios. Reminds me a little of Peep Show in that respect.

This series hasn't reached the peaks of the first series yet but its still great, compulsive viewing. Am I alone in wondering what the fuck is so special about Karen? She's not especially attractive, she has a rather large and tacky tattoo on her back and is one of the most judgmental, self righteous bitches going. Hopefully now that he's a free of her, Hank can go back to his old man-whore ways.

re: Season 2, I'm straight into it. I found the first half of the season a bit of a stuggle. I stuck around because of DD and Hank, who cracks me up. So I'm enjoying it.

re: Karen. Gah! I can't really stand her. I knew from the first ep of the series she was going to be on his case about everything he'd ever done. That last ep though... I can't really blame her for freaking out. He's got some other woman pregnant!? It wasn't his fault... but I can understand her needing space.

Lets see where it goes.

This last episode was a bit more fun now that he's broken up with Karen again and is hanging out with a rock star. That TV chef was mental! Karen was good fun in the first season when Hank was cheekily flirting with her in front of Bill, but now that you mention it I suppose she has stopped Hank being Hank since they've got back together. Not always unjustified, mind! But when she was yelling at him for all the crazy crap he did while she was engaged to Bill (like Trixie) it's a bit harder to understand. Even the 'wrong vagina' stuff from this season's opener was used against him for a bit too long. He did realise the mistake and get out sharpish! You gotta love him.

I'd forgotten that Hank and Karen had split up again - I was pleasantly reminded in this last episode when Karen walked in on Hank listening to Sonja's (and his) baby kick, and didn't go off on one. Instead, the two had a classic Hank/Karen flirt, and it was funny. This show is great again! Though remind me; Mia's 16, right? I really like Charlie and Marcy's storyline at the moment, that's quite funny, too. "That'll do, Runkle. That'll do." I think that one's going to get a lot more serious (well, relatively, it is still Californication). Marcy seems to be developing a serious habit and on top of that could possibly end up either in a porn film, or at least shagging that director - and the same goes for Charlie there with Daisy.

Awwww poor Ashby. You know, at different points this season I have thought they were going to end by pairing up Hank with:
a) Sonja - The episode where he spends most of the time trying to break her up with Julian and that moment with him feeling the baby kick.
b) Jayne - For quite awhile there it seemed like Lew and Hank might do an old switcheroo with each going for the other's ex. Of course, Hank might still get his end away...
c) Karen - The thrill is always in the chase and never the capture which is why as much as I love this series, this season hasn't quite reached the peak of the first. Simply because it was great when Hank was upsetting Bill and everyone else and flirting with Karen, with not a snowball's chance in Hell of getting her. Once Season One ended with them back together the show really didn't know where to go. Which is probably why the writers split them up again so early on. For me though, Karen is the most annoying, self-righteous, hypocritical bitch you could possibly find. What kind of woman, who claims to be acting like a substitute mother, stops her teenage "daughter" going out with an older man by going out with him herself?! If she ever lectures Hank about his shortcomings as a father again after that I think somebody needs to just punch her in the face. But anyway, there have been occasions this season, especially in the last few episodes, where it seems a reconciliation is on the cards. For the sake of Season Three, I hope not!

I think it'd be interesting to have Karen get a bit of a verbal kicking at least once. You're right, Vadersville, half the stuff she does is as bad as Hank and yet it's never brought up.

So another series of Californication has come to an end and we have to wait until 2009 for the next fix.

Personally I loved the finale, nice way of wrapping things up and whilst it never reached the dramatic peak of last year's wedding I thought the overall ending was a lot more credible and ultimately more satisfying. It felt better having Hank sacrifice both returning to New York and reconciling with Karen for his daughter rather than them all run away together as a happy family like the end of the first season. Thats always whats made the character so likable; whilst he may sleep around more than a male prostitute and fuck things up in a way no one else can he is a damn good father who cares about his daughter more than anything else.

I also like how Runkle's story was left more unresolved this season rather than a last minute quick conclusion, rushed more than one of his micro-shags. I wonder if Marcy will actually be back next season or will it just be Runkle and Daisy? Personally I do hope they bring the little Smurf back next year, Daisy kinda scares me...

I honestly don't think Karen will be back next year though. Especially after hearing about the death of the actress's husband. And I have to say I think its a good idea. I've made my hatred of the character no secret and even if I put that aside I do believe they've gone as far as they can with her. Hank has realised now that the love of his life is not Karen but Becca and he should focus his life on trying to raise his daughter the best way he can, not by flogging a dead horse, trying to get back with Karen. To have him chase after her all over again would be a pointless reset for his character.

As for Mia, I'm still on the fence with her coming back or not. In the first season I loved her character and all her sociopath-ness! But this season she hasn't really had much to do, and has seemed kinda pointless. If the writers do decide to bring her back I hope they bring her back for a reason and give her some scenes that are on par with her lot from the first season. But do you know who I really wanna see next year? Bill! If only to see Hank give him shit and get his name wrong. I miss Bill...

I think it's a bit bollocksy to have him stay because he's daughter fancies some random guy. Like they're meant to be and if she leave LA it'll be a tragedy. Whatever.

However, the show is called Californication, so they had to stay on the west coast I suppose. I would like to see Hank on his home turf though.

Karen... I don't like her double standard bullshit either, but I think it'll be odd to not have her around at all. I'm sure she'll pop up now and again as she does have a child in LA.

Charlie's dumb. Marci should kick his ass! I'm looking forward to all that.

Hate Mia and I don't need to see her again.

 Didn't enjoy this season as much, probably because there wasn't a central theme running throughout the series. Glad Karen has gone though, she's annoying. Even when that other woman was giving birth and talking about her p*ssy being ruined and Hank said she had a lovely one, Karen still gave him a look despite the fact he was trying to cheer the other woman up! I mean how self absorbed can you be!

 Season 3 starts on 27th September, I'm watching this show first time and am currently on season 1 but should be ready for the new season in the next few weeks.
The show does have a lot of nudity but it does have me interested to watch on and not just for all the naked ladies but because the story is also quite good, love the opening to the pilot with the nun

I'm gonna look for some early leaks... The first few eps of Dexter and Cali are usually around in late August. Hmmmm.

I think the series started off desparately with the nudity everywhere. But it calmed down and trusted itself to not fall back on the nakedness.

Love Duchovny and can't wait for more Moody.

I'm slightly disappointed with Fiver (channel on freeview and sky) suddenly taking this show off the air in replace of some crappy 'Sex: How to do everything' show..Unless it finished, which I'm not too sure it did as it was only 4 episodes of the way through what I believe was season 2

But it's still my favourite thing on tv at the moment. Smart scripts, great performances and on top of it all David Duchovny being absolutely sexy and brilliant (What more could a girl ask for?)

I guess I'll just have to wait until Sept 27th to resume feeding my Californication addiction...Good job I have the DVD boxsets to keep me going until then

I was watching the re-runs of Dawsons Creek and they dropped that halfway through season 2, FIVER is the worst channel in the world but they have improved they have got the rights to air season 5 and 6 of Sex and the City before they could air the first 4 and Channel 4 had the last 2.

Californication Season 1 was pretty good, I wasn't expecting anything great, and it wasn't but it was a good watch and David was on top form, the only annoying character I found was Mia, when near the end of season 1 where she's trying to destory Hank's career sometimes you do feel like giving her a slap, otherwise the other characters are okay. One character in particular I liked which was Evan Handler's Charlie Rinkle who tries to turn Hank's life around while dealing with his own personal issues.
It also has one of the best opening scenes of any show I've ever seen before, in the church with the nun, it was unexpected that.
There was a lot of sex in the early 3-5 episodes but they started to ease a bit on the nudity near the last half of the show, and the last episode was good, there really wasn't any need for a season 2, to me everything ended perfectly, but I am still looking forward to season 2 which I might start this weekend.
I think someone described it as soft porn with a good story and that's exactly what it is.
