Interesting - was that supposed to be a nod to Fatal Attraction, or did they nick it assuming most of their viewers won't have seen it?

Nanny McDead was an improvement, I've really enjoyed both episodes so far. It's the first 'cop' show of this type (individual cases each week) I've decided to get into and as a result none of it seems too tried and tested to me, I enjoy the chemistry between Fillion and Katic, Fillion especially being the best thing about the show. He oozes charisma.

Ratings didn't drop by much at all either, so looking good.

I really enjoyed the second episode, it seemed a real step up from the first, a lot more serious with plenty of hints of things to come.

Its hard not to like it, the chemistry between Fillion and Katic is so well balanced, it has a spark but none of the smugness you sometimes get when two leads know they have a decent script.

Excellent stuff, I'll certainly be keeping up with this.

I'm having trouble actually obtaining the third episode, anybody found anything decent?

Enjoyed episode 3 but I'm already a lttle worried that Fillion's charm alone ain't going to see this one through. It's all just a bit same old same old.Still early days yet.

I don't think the third ep was as good as the second, it didn't seem to flow as well although mystery wise I have no complaints, it has a decent enough mix of obvious and tricks to keep me entertained.

It felt like it was a real setting in episode but we are starting to get to know the characters a little better now so hopefully new things will get thrown up next week. I am interested in the father/daughter narratives, I can't help but think its going to end in a kidnapping at some point...

I'm really enjoying it. It's like Life in that it coasts on the lead's appeal and charm.

I was finding epi 4 quite confusing until I realised it must be epi 2 and they've shown them out of order for some inexplicable reason.

It has that nice generic feel with plots that are not to challenging mixed with a nice charismatic lead, which means that it may well have a long life ahead of it. So far I think the second episode has been the best and other than that it is just floating along. Fillion may have broken his less than one season cancellation curse.

At the same time though, you want him to break free of TV and take every leading man role on offer.

Captain America? Nathan Fillion.
Green Lantern? Nathan Fillion.
Nelson Mandela? Nathan Fillion.

Once again I really enjoyed this week's episode, charming and funny as ever, it kind of felt like the murder was a bit of a side part to the character bonding - not that I minded.

Beckett turning up at the reading near the end was highly amusing "Summer Heat, Heat Wave... In Heat" *snigger*

Is anyone still watching this? I personally think it's one of the consistently funny, witty and well written shows this season. Sure the concept is a bit generic but Fillion makes it compulsive viewing and since Life is now cancelled, I need a "weekly cop show that hangs on its charismatic lead."

Love the relationship between him and his daughter, in that the roles are reversed - she's the responsible one, he's the man-child.

It would appear the Firefly curse is slowly being broken, Castle gets second season, Chuck gets third season, Dollhouse gets second season, and I think Alan Tudyk and Morena Baccarin are the V remake so we'll have to see about that.

Castle has now secured a full season order for S2 according to Variety, bumping it up from 13 eps to 22.  Apparently its pulling in 10m viewers per week, which isn't bad and it is showing better legs than some of ABC's new shows this season...

Now if only a UK network would pick it up...

I haven't seen this show (want to - Fillion is like a god to me ), but that sounds an awful lot like the relationship between James Woods and his daughter in Shark, except replace "man-child" with "sleazy irresponsible prosecutor".

I wouldn't say it is just Veronica Mars, but it seems like every other show since Mars created the best father/daughter relationship seen in a long time on TV has tried to have some kooky sweet parent/child thing normally father/daughter. Lie to Me is another recent one with the same relationship.

I'm still watching it and loving it. Good thing he's got a new deal for more Nikki Heat stories... though a Richard Castle Bond book would have been great.

Timon,  in the absence of any UK network picking it up would you say its worth picking up an R1 DVD of Season 1 when I'm in the US next week?

Castle is without a doubt my favourite non sci fi show at the moment, at first it was cause it had the god fillion in it, but I think the leads have great on screen chemistry and I like the humor twist from him being a writer and wanting to do anything to get the "story"
excellent, and so glad it's up to 22 episodes this season.

Yep.

Thanks for the recommendation Timon.  Just finished watching the last ep of Season 1 of Castle and can now place it in my top ten of current shows.

After a slowish start it really grew on me and definitely marks a return to Mal Reynolds-like form for Nathan Fillion.  Solid scripts with nice interplay between the two leads and no overselling of the the old 'mutual attraction'-chestnut, a deft mix of light hearted fun and solid drama and some genuinely decent mysteries.  I even warmed to the female detective who at the beginning I thought I'd hate.  Great cliffhanger at the end too.  Highly recommended....

Now if only one of the UK networks would pick the show up so I don't have to wait for Season 2 to come out on R1 DVD....

Good to see Castle return and BSG's Fisk cropping up as well as the lovely Alyssa Milano.

A couple of little nuggets of Castle-related info to relate...

The first is that IGN are talking up the chances of Castle being picked up for a 3rd Season...

The second is more pointless trivia than information.  Watching Quantum of Solace on Sky last week, I realised that the girl in the final scenes of the movie, when Bond finally tracks down Vespa's double crossing boyfriend, is played by Stana Katic (Det. Beckett).  Its almost a non-speaking role but its definitely her...

Not a bad career improvement; bit part Bond Girl to star of network TV show....
