Finished it. Well it is short but pretty enjoyable. It leans a bit more to the horror side than the main game and the boss battle is much better than giant labia beast.

I might get the DLC later down the line when it reduces in price, but it's a bit much for under two hours of gameplay. Plus it's a bit of a letdown that the best they could think of for a DLC is to just break the ambiguity of the ending by having Isaac still alive. They should have done it like an extended optional mission set during the events of the game.

Just started it on classic mode. Up to chapter 6 and despite itching to mod some weapons you don't have the option; you have to build from blueprints only. So far I've found it pretty easy and have about 30 health packs, but it will get tougher once I meet some of the more varied creatures on Tau Volantis. Playing it again it's great the way the game is split into two halves, the first a tribute to the previous two games and the other half the change up.

Goddamn Spider critter git!

I can't tear it apart no matter how long I tap the F key on my PC.

Picked up the first game (after playing both 2 and 3) and shitting Nora, it's the worst of the three for fear.

I think it's a combination of taking a step back in all the innovations (my fault, not the games) and the sound design which is much much better here. There isn't a second where you're not on edge.

Those necromorphs that pour out fumes are really creepy. I know they don't attack you or anything but it's their sad face coupled with the wheezy breathing noise makes them extra spooky.

Finished the first game there at the weekend. Fabulous through and through.

Temple's end was a bit rough though; poor guy.

Finally got past that bit in Dead Space 2 with the raptor bastards that had stumped me for so long I completed Dead Space 3 and went back to number 1 in the interim. Probably cause I'm a proper hard bastard now it didn't panic me as much as it had before. Just done the disc swap and we're now in uncharted territory.

The fear has returned.

Well, that ending was intense. With that unkillable guy chasing me and the fight in my mind. Excellent stuff. I think 2 actually tops the first for me.

Severed was fun.

I liked going through all the locations I'd been before and seeing the aftermath of Issac's exploits.

I finally started on Dead Space 3 this week. Loving it!

I'd heard people saying it wasn't as good and that it never gets the 'old' Dead Space vibe, but seriously, it's Dead Space through and through! The proglogue scene was typical set up, with a big set piece to lead us into things, and then the 'city' section feels like the continuation of that, giving us something a little fresh and 'action movie' before slotting straight into it's Dead Space stride. The opening few chapters and additional missions were great, allowing a little bit of freedom to explore the 'graveyard'. Loved it. The 'Conning Tower' side mission was fucking brutal - used so much ammo! The scares so far haven't matched the previous two, but the tension and feeling of unease is still there as I wander around, and when those sections arrive, where you're trapped with oncoming hordes...... well, the retain the sweaty palm stress that I've always loved about the series. Coming out of the 'graveyard', piloting the ship was pretty great and actually was a nice welcome breather (getting the ship ready to leave was fucking stressful! running around those walkways for the pieces I need, refuelling and then having to escape....nightmare!).

So, now I am on the new planet, in the snow and searching around a bit. Finally made my way inside and the new location and environment is again a nice way to change things up. All in all it's great, and it is still very much 'Dead Space'. It's a fucking hard game though!

After not having much enthusiasm to play it, I finally got around to playing Dead Space 3 over the Chrismas period.

For the most part, I really enjoyed it; the first 2 thirds of the game were superb. The first part, before you get to Hoth had enough of the old Dead Space vibe to keep me happy, and the section set on the ice planet was a fantastic setting and had a real 'The Thing' feel to it in places. The final third dragged a bit. By this point, the game felt too long, and each encounter seemed to become a slog through hordes of enemies at the expense of any tension. The final boss was a bit shit too. Despite having been up most of the night with a tummy bug, and feeling like I'd been run over, it was still quite a push-over.

All-in-all, I'm glad I played through DS3. Although my interest would be piqued if a 4th instalment was announced, it would have to be something pretty special to make it a Day 1 purchase for me.

I've got it gathering dust on the shelf. I'd like to play but it would be my first run through. Only really about in the mornings on the weekends.

I could possibly assist ...
