Article in todays Metro from the dev team. I hope it lives up to their expectations, apparently they watched LOTS of horror films to help them get the right vibe....it all depends on which horror films doesnt it?

If the reviews are good enough then I'll be dipping into my coppers jar (not a metaphor for fisting policemen but it can be if you want)

I'm definitely getting this, been following it for a while, ever since it was incorrectly touted as a Resi Evil styled Survival Horror. Looks like an amazing horror styled shooter, probably not too disimilar from Resi 4 despite the devs trying to distance themselves from the genre.

Looks amazing, and is actually meant to be incredibly scary, I really can't wait, and seeing as the release date has been brought forwards we can only assume the devs have done an amazing job. It's just a case of saving up the pennies now, it's quite unlike me these days to buy two games in a month.

EA have really turned a corner over the past year or so, and their claims of no longer making crappy sequels and making quality games seems to be coming true, after Bad Company being a rather good game (granted I've not played it) this seems like further improvement.

The videos look cool, and I've been looking forward to a decent atmospheric game since Bioshock.

I'm not sure what to think of the whole 'strategic dismemberment' concept that they touting in all the videos though. On the one hand it sounds like it could be a really cool addition, and it changes the gaming convention of 'headshot is an instant kill'. However, if it's not implemented well, it could turn every single enemy encounter into some kind of tedious protracted battle where you have to precisely shoot each part of the enemy before it finally dies. Could be a pain in the ass when you've got a crowd of 5 or 6 enemies to dispatch at the same time.......

Still, it looks good. Let's hope it actually does what it says on the tin, and it's SCARY.

Looks very good. I don't know why the devs are even bothering to try and distance it from Resi 4 though, it's a blatant clone. I'm not complaining though, it's essentially Resi 4 meets /Alien/The Thing/Event Horizon/The Abyss etc etc. Bound to be a lot of fun!

That's from wikipedia. So not sure if it really has even been reviewed yet. I think it will be worth a punt. I won't be rushing to get it though. I don't have enough time or money.

I saw the review for it on Playr and it got 9/10. They are usually on the mark. But I may just give this a rent as there's just far too much coming out and not enough money!

Oh yes i saw a trailer for this a few days back. Quite derivative of Doom, but it looks to be pleasingly violent and scary.

Ahhh yes I am fed up of space stations. They all look the same. So depressing and hardly ever looks like people actually lived on them. I would love to see a game/movie actually try a different design which wasn't exactlly like the Aliens films. How about trying to replicate life on earth a bit? Some unique architecture etc.

Ah! The metro interview threw me a bit when I read it.

Apparently there are no weapons available for your character. 'Whats this?' I said to myself....I wondered if you would have to use cunning, stealth and logic to overcome the alien hordes. Mmmmm tactical.

However you have access to mega powerful mining lasers, so that would be the weapons then.

Yeah whilst technically true the 'weapons' are tools but it's still a pretty misleading paragraph. I forgot to add Doom to the list of games it's similar too. I'll probably rent it too, it looks very good but Fallout3's on it's way and thats my next 2 months tied up!

Saw a review for this yesterday on youtube (think it was from some games program on Bravo) in which they awarded it 9/10. It does look derivative of a lot of games, especially Resident Evil and Bioshock but what it lacks in originality it looks like it makes up in gameplay and scares. Atmosphere looks great as do the enemies and the way you need to kill them. Story also looks fairly good if not quite as good as bioshock's.

I won't be buying it at launch though for a few reasons:
  • I'll be buying either PES or FIFA next week so won't have the moolah.
  • It looks similar to Gears of War 2 or Fallout 3 and I'll almost certainly be buying GoW2 seeing as how bad-ass the first game was.
  • No multi-player. In this day and age I think all games should have at least co-op options. I loved bioshock when I first got it but soon put it down to play other online games and never went back to it.

It may fill in the gap until Resi, and tactical dismemberment looks pretty fun but there are so many games coming out this winter which look better, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears 2, Mirror's Edge and Farcry 2.  I wish I was rich...

I watched the gamespot review this morning and the out of window graphics and general design overall look top notch.

A def. purchase when it comes down to about 20.

Look out for a thread revival in about 6 months!!!!

Gamespy gave it 5 stars and editors choice and I generally agree with those guys so it's just risen up a few notches, it still won't beat Fallout3 as my most wanted though.

Definitely getting this.
Think I might even get the blu-ray of the animated intro story

Between this, Far Cry 2, LBP and Mirror's Edge (and the WoW expansion) I fear I may not leave the flat again until sometime after Christmas

Hooooly shit, that's incredible. This game's been on my radar for quite a while but it's only been a "must buy" since E3. The next week is gonna feel pretty long indeed.

Funnily enough I was just talking about this with a few guys at work, the whole missus pro/con, buy as present/destroy through hated thing. I'm pretty lukcy as I buy my GF a daft TV Box set and she'll get me a game I want. Obviously it would be easier if we bought our own things but this way it's more... romantic.
