Are they now assuming that all viewers haven't seen the X Files though? The soldier stuff and the shape-shifting - it is pretty much a rip-off combination of the alien bounty hunters from X FIles and the super soldiers, isn't it? Using plugs doesn't really give it that much of an original impulse.

I can understand where you're coming from and hopefully the show will go in a different direction to that of the X-Files, still pretty good viewing though and in my opinion, one of the best TV shows about at the moment.

Yeah it was a bit X-Filesy but the stuff with the typewriter was cool, I look forward to seeing where it goes.

I loved Walters comments about Peters beefburger this week

Good episode again this week with more insight into 'the war' that's going on....

Great episode this week!

After not a lot happening we get a lot squeezed into one episode, Olivia remembering her meeting with Bell, then stupidly letting it all go to waste by telling the shapeshifters the location of the head. Walters 'experiment' buddy seeing that Peter is from the other side was a nice touch aswell.

Bump!
Meghan Markle joins 'Fringe'
Actress to recur on Fox's sci-fi drama

By Nellie Andreeva

June 23, 2009, 10:28 PM ET
Meghan Markle has joined the cast of Fox's "Fringe" as a recurring.

On the sci-fi drama, set to return for a second season in the fall, Markle will play an attractive, brash and quick-witted junior FBI agent.

The Warner Bros. TV-produced series, from J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, stars Anna Torv as FBI special agent Olivia Dunham, who investigates paranormal phenomena with the help of Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son Peter (Joshua Jackson).

Markle, who did an arc on the CW's "90210," is repped by Gersh and Shelter Entertainment.

Whatever happened to Jessop? I think we saw her for all of two episodes and that was it...

Last nights episode was an absolute cracker, the relationship focus between Walter and Peter/Astrid were fantastic. Really enjoyed it and those scenes involved great acting on all parts. Also loved the light relief at the end where Walter injected a tracking device into himself

She was annoying, probably not given much of a chance, but still...

The relationships between Walter and Peter and Walter/Astrid are indeed strengths of the show. Some of the recent episodes have been a bit weak, save for some good moments between these characters.

I found Walter and Astrid's reunion surprisingly moving...

I do like Walter and I feel Astrid should be used more. That Peter sure is a gifted young man, isn't he...though if you're from a parallel world, you bound to be slightly... different.

Some of the 'mystery of the week' episodes have been a bit week but still entertaining, the underlying arc episodes are great though, I especially enjoyed the one a couple of weeks back involving the observers.

Have to agree that Astrid should get used more. Olivia is also starting to get on my nerves a little (she is my only gripe with the show), also, what happened to Olivias sister? Her and Peter were about to get it on at the end of the last season but so far this season I don't think we've even had a mention of her, nevermind seen her.

The first season was very Olivia centric, but luckily this season the writers have given her a bit of a back seat to allow Peter and Walter to actually become the centre of the show. This weeks episode was particularly engaging, Walters character is written so well - and superbly acted. I only hope they both continue to get as much of the spotlight as Olivia, if not more.

Fully agree - definitely an under-rated gem of a show. First season was 'meh' and we were tempted to give up. Glad we stuck with it now - as me and the missus are completely hooked. Hope it doesn't get canned.

Me too, it's definitely getting better. If the ratings keep going up as they have been lately, we should be ok. Apparantly Fox are happy with the show so will probably give it as many chances as possible. Although, it is Fox

The thing with Fringe is that while it's not doing terribly well in the ratings, it is in one of the most competitive slots of the week, going up against CSI and Grey's. There's a trade off: Thursdays are the most watched nights so you have the largest pool of potential viewers, but what percentage of them are you getting?

We'll probably know a bit more depending on how well Human Target does when it starts next year in the cushy post American Idol slot.

Unseen episode from season 1 tonight? How come? I just though it was continuing where it left off.

No idea, just saw a promo for it and checked the EPG. Says this episode is to wet our appetite for the restart next week....

Bugger. I saw an episode in the 'Anytime' list that I think was the last episode of season 2 that was described the same. Can't believe there's an episode from season 1 unaired. Unless its a very 'stand alone' episode, it'll be a little strange.

I think tonights is a stand alone episode but (highlight, spoilers for tonights ep) the ep involves a person/s we've already seen die, my guess is Charlie

It's been renwed for a third series.

quote:

EW has learned exclusively that Fox has picked up Fringe for a third season. Though the show isnít exactly blowing the roof off of Nielsen ó itís been averaging just 7.6 million viewers and is ranked No. 50 in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic this season ó it managed to survive in a tough new time period on Thursdays.

That's good to hear!

Looking forward to the resumption of Season 2 on Tuesday, back into the proper action. The stand alone episode was a little disappointing.

Not watched it yet - is it worth it? Surely it'll feel a little disjointed if its an unaired season 1 episode.

Can someone tell me how they got rid of the virus in last weeks episode and cured the Professors son? I think I missed something as one minute he was attacking the female agent and I think others in the office were still infected and then the next it was all over! I think I fell asleep at that point. You can pm me if you don`t want to spoil the ending for others!

If I remember rightly, I think it was Horseradish Sauce that saved the day

They gassed all the people in the building and injected them with a cure which Walter had developed.

Yeah, they spread the gas through the air conditioning unit, anyone without a gas mask passed out, including Peter.

Thanks for that. I thought it was great this week a really creepy episode with the 100 year old Nazi who hadn`t aged using air born toxins to kill various people who didn`t fit into the master race plan. I guessed he was a Nazi as soon as I saw him but it does make you wonder if some of this stuff is real fringe science and possible (not him not ageing). I think I read somewhere that some of the science in it is possible.

Good to see we're back to the meaty stuff this week, excellent episode. Loved Walter asking Peter to fetch him his stuff...

I also picked up the first season on Blu-Ray for £18 - Bargain!

I thought the retro 80s credits were awesome for 'Peter's story' and loved the fact that in the parallel universe, Eric Stolz played Marty McFly in Back to the Future.
