This guy I go to college with was talking to me about a Jaws remake today.

To be honest, I didn't believe him, having not heard anything about (plus it just sounds unlikely for many reason). Have I missed the boat on this, or was he just chatting shit?

I'm hoping the latter.

Spielberg's rumoured 'Munich'-set whisper to Daniel Craig - for Craig to portray a younger Robert Shaw/Quint in a chapter prequel set aboard the USS Indianapolis - Craig reminding the Wunderkind of Mr. Shaw, was too delicious!

If they remake JAWS (in my opinion the gretest film ever made) i will personally hire a hitmn to take out everyone involved in making the film!

Isnt this a sign that soon that the Apocolypse is near? Or is it a sign that we'll be watching that arse movie from Idiocracy soon? I have no idea.

Oh good. Another needless remake.

When are people going to wake up and realise that Jaws is not a franchise? How many sh*tty sequels have there been? And now a remake? Are you f*cking kidding me? Aarrgh. Hopefully this is just a pants rumour and nothing more.

Although I do find myself interested in the idea of a prequel regarding the Indianapolis. Imagine the truncated title if you will:

Jaws Origins: Quint

Great, then you could have a Jaws Origins: Brody and a Jaws Origins: Cooper. The fact that Steve whispered the prequel idea to Daniel Craig on the set of Munich (which was released in 2005) makes me think its a vague idea that will never see the light of day. Hopefully.

About 90% of what's discussed on these forums isn't official.

Sadako from Ring isn't real but she still scares the sh*t out of me.

You friend is talking out of his arse.  I am not 100% ceratin and I am sure one of you out there will tell inform me if I am wrong, but good old Steven as some say if any re-make can be made, and I dont suppose he will give the greenlight any day soon.  Rumours are persisting of a fifith chapter which probably could happen due to the increase of straight to DVD crap (JoyRide2-Reeker2-I Always Know What You Did Last Summer) thats flooding the market.  As we have seen with Halloween and King Kong, no film is safe from the reboot machine.

I can Imagine it now...

Just when you thought it was safe

                                                           JAWS
                                                      A McG FILM

Starring Christopher Bale (as he is in bloody anything at the moment)
Jessica Bale (its too sexist to have a film with three men on the boat these days)
                                                            and
                                                       Al Pacino
(he stars in any shit these days as Quint)

                                          COMMING SUMMER OF 2012

Remakes are ruining the film industry. ESPECIALLY horror remake. I don't want them to ruin another classic. They already ruined one of my favoirte horror films which is Halloween, they can't ruin my other favorite Jaws, cause if they do, it's goin' down in Chinatown!

Stupid idea to remake one of my all time favorites but luckily i think it will remain a rumour, however i am surprised that Speilberg hasnt done a Lucas and tried to put a CGI shark into a remastered version yet to see what it would do to the original as there are some scenes where the shark looks naff.

I do remember a guy at work (and a big film buff he was, too, so I don't think this was just some bullshit he whipped up to spoil my day!) telling me that Spielberg had thought about it...

How can you say that remakes are ruining the film industry? All remakes do is upset the odd few fans of the original versions of films they do nothing to the film industry as most of these modern horror and other remakes still make huge profits which in turn spawn many more remakes, but as far as i have seen apart from upsetting a few of us fans nothing has been ruined in the film industry.
There is a new generation of cinema goers now that didnt get the chance to see the original films but become big fans of the remakes which in turn makes them want to seek out the original versions which in turn start to remake money being re-released to coinside with the new films release, which to me is a win win situation for us all, we still get to appreciate the originals and our freedom of choice means we can avoid the remakes and not have to moan and bitch about them.

I'm absolutely certain I've heard Spielberg say that before. Something along the lines of "Given the same technology I had for Jurassic Park, I'd love to give it another go" (huge paraphrasing there).

Jaws is my absolute favourite ever film and wouldn't want it ruined (if it's possible for a remake to ruin an original) by a shoddy remake, yet I'd be quite like to see what Spielberg could do with it given the chance.

I really donīt know if all this is true, I heard about remakes almost everyday.

Modern Classic movies are going to be remade too, as well as old classics (I mean remakes, not sequels)
Nightmare on Elm Street, THE CROW, yep, I said The CROW, The Shadow, etc etc Jaws too?
ehhh

Why?
