Arranging to meet up with a friend during the day on Friday.
Bubba coming this weekend.  Although I'm dreading the reason why she's coming!

Actually it made me giggle like a loon.

I was in a meeting in work today and one of the manager's was taking ages to finish a sentence, so I helped out:

Manager: What we have to do....in order to get this done....we're going to need......
Me (quietly): ...a bigger boat?

Couldn't help it, then couldn't help smiling! Luckily, Manager didn't pick up on it, but a couple of my colleagues just smiled at me indulgently! It's the little things that get you through two-hour, jargon-filled meetings...

[Sarah Palin] - I keep hearing that she's ''like us.'' There's this idea that people who hunt and have ''good'' values are somehow this mythological American; I don't know who ''this'' person is, I've never met them. She is no more typical ''us'' than I am, than Obama is, than McCain is, than Mr. T is. If there is something quintessentially or authentically American about her, I sort of feel like, you know what? You ''good values people'' have had the country for eight years, and done an unbelievably s---ty job. Let's find some bad values people and give them a shot, maybe they'll have a better take on it. (Jon Stewart)

I hope he's still doing The Daily Show when he's 80.

The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

 Amazing

I got a two hour detention, a day in internal isolation and a phonecall home once for the same reason - I couldn't pass it up. We had a supply teacher who everyone hated, and he hated everyone, so everyone just argued with him. A kid asked him a question and he didn't hear it, so said what to the kid. I said kinda quietly "They speak English in what?"

A couple of my mates heard, laughed, and the teacher looked at me. "What?"

And then I couldn't resist; detention be damned, I had set myself up and wasn't going to fail now.

"English, motherfucker; do you speak it?!"

Needless to say, I was in a lot of trouble. Still, people called me Jules for a week or two.

 Thank you!

I only really got in trouble because it was mandatory - they couldn't not punish me. But my parents thought it was funny, my Drama teacher said the sentence anytime one of us said 'what', my Media teacher happened to have the film so we put the scene on and then I had to see how much I sounded like Sam Jackson.

So, all in all, I don't regret it at all. I'm just waiting for someone to say "This is madness" so I can become the 430670000th user of the 'Sparta' line.

Children do sometimes swear in front of teachers; it's amazing, I know.
Especially in cases where the teacher is a buffoon.
