My wife telling me about a 'meltdown' on a forum she uses. It's her first time experiencing such a thing.

The forum? Baby Centre.

My wife uses that forum, I'm intrigued now.

Although I've seen a couple of the kind of 'spats' that can occur in that place and they seem so distastefully civil compared to here.

Perhaps my definition of 'meltdown' is different to my wife's, but a whole load of pregnant women on a forum? Could get messy.

(Not like that.)

Lying in bed after a day in work spent fixing my managers Excel spreadsheets (which I think has left an impression), followed by a trip to the cinema with my sis to see Dallas Buyers Club, and a meal at Nando's after.

Ahhhh going to bed full

Getting a late Christmas present in the post. A Community 8-bit T-shirt. Pretty sweet.

Tickets for Lear arrived. So now we have a couple of trips booked to London, one to see Toni Servillo on the stage and one to see Simon Russell Beale.

I don't do autographs and have never asked for one in my life but I was very tempted with SRB when he sat up back, a few seats behind us, when we went to see Napoleon in November. Astonishing stage actor who speaks Shakespeare more beautifully than anyone I've ever heard.

Olives on my Olive tree. I've had it 7 years and this is the first time. Quite a size as well.
Sadly I don't like Olives but I'm thrilled all the same, firstly because my Mum bought it me and it reminds me of her every time I leave the house, and secondly because generally I am shit at planting things and keeping them alive.

Exceptionally juvenile, but I was walking with my girlfriend by the local Cathedral and we saw a scaffolding van with "Erection Specialists" in foot high letters on the side. We giggled like schoolchildren for minutes afterwards.

I came on here to say how much Robot And Frank had made me smile (and cry a little bit at the end) but frankly this news has me grinning like a loon. Fuck this, I'm off to Morrisons.

Does this mean you'll have to give all future U2 releases positive reviews no matter how crap they are?

The Daily Express running a story about someone getting a weather forecast wrong. The lack of self-awareness is mind-boggling.

I had a rather worrying health symptom that could have been indicative of something bad, but got the all-clear from the doctor.

I know its a cliché, but you really do take your health for granted, don't you...

Blimey... for the first time in a VERY long time, it looks like I might actually have a date lined up next week! With an actual girl! Who is rather good looking yet still willing to spend time with a knobhead like me! And, no, I didn't meet her on the Internet...

Final details to be confirmed, but she's deffo up for a one-on-one evening meet for the first time (we were work friends for a while... and no, we did not have an 'emotional affair'...)

See you back here next week when I realise that her 'flirtatious' texts, big hugs when we met and a few questions from her mate about what I think about her meant nothing much and I'm banging my head against the wall at my utter stupidity...

^ ^ ^ Well done mate, good luck with that,

First day of Autumn, thank fuck ( and the Earth's orbit ). It's been one of the hottest and driest summers since I moved here 10 years ago, I barely survived. It will probably take another 3 or 4 weeks to actually start cooling down but at least you know it's almost here.

Things appear to be looking up at the moment. I have a job I enjoy where, despite officially being temporary, I seem to be making myself indispensable.

I also managed to convince my manager and the HR team to give one of the other temps a second chance, by making a case about finances and training costs/scheduling etc, and proving that it would be more beneficial to let them come back on Monday rather than replace them with someone new.

I appear to have influence over people MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Had to laugh at Ian Wright smugly taking the piss out of that 'Barraco Barner' tweeter:

If only he was as hot on double negatives as he is American presidents.

An ex of mine, who I was utterly mad about and was thinking about getting engaged to, but who subsequently cheated on me and then dumped me, sent me a FB friend request via a mutual mate...

Aint seen her in about eight years, its always been kind of 'unfinished business' if you know what I mean (I think we've all been there), so I clicked on her picture with great trepidation...

Fucking hell. Talk about a lucky escape...

Went to see Miranda at Nottingham on Saturday night.
Considering I was taking the wife and kids, who are all fans, I was expecting to sit and drink beer whilst raising my eyebrows knowingly at the other unfortunate poor Dads in the audience.
However, it was the most fun I've had at a gig in years.
She was brilliant, the crowd were fantastic (audience participation is huge) everyone was jumping up and dancing, shouting out the catchphrases. It wasn't so much Miranda Hart stand up, more like Miranda was having a party and we were all invited.
Well worth going.

Ha. I nearly picked up my ex the other day as I was driving past where she (one assumes) works, to offer her a lift home as it was raining. I swiftly changed my mind because a) we didn't part on the best of terms (she cheated, I was devastated, but I was also 17...so it doesn't really count) and b) I didn't have my wedding ring on.

How could I gloat that I was married without proof of same?

A picture of your doubtlessly-lovely wife in one hand and your middle finger raised on the other?

Aw, I'm being bitchy. But, c'mon, we've all been hurt by past relationships and when you seem to be doing better than your ex... who can resist?

I nearly got engaged to a guy when I was in my 20's but he cheated on me and then went on to marry that same girl. I bumped in to him about 10 years later after he had split up from his wife after he found her in bed with his then best mate. I had lost loads of weight and had given up smoking (which he had hated at the time and had always tried to get me to stop) and I knew that I looked really good. He told me he'd made a big mistake when he cheated on me. I just smiled and walk off....

Bloody loving these stories about how fellow Empire forumites ran into their exes and had the upper hand... keep 'em coming!

If any of you lot are a bit heartbroken right now, for whatever reason, rest assured, your day will come just as long as you stay strong and don't give in to the usual crushing emotional bullshit that comes with the death of a relationship...

I've just been on a train journey for work, a woman sat opposite me was fast asleep and she'd left her phone on the table and i could see it was unlocked. The urge to take a selfie with me and her asleep on her own phone was so overwhelming that i had to move to another seat before i got myself arrested.

It still mavels me that as a husband and father with a responsible job where I am a line manager of a team, that i am still such a childish idiot.

so that made me smile today, it looks like i'm never going to grow the fuck up.

This line from Will Ferrell to Zach Galifianakis in The Campaign:

'You're such a little turd that when you sit in sand cats try to bury you'

Brian Cox's first scene is priceless too.
