11 days until I move house, and my landlord-elect is already awesome. I want to arrange to get the first payment to him so it's not burning a hole in my bank, he's tells me a figure less than the one I've calculated, and says to come to the property tomorrow, he'll give me the keys so I can start getting stuff moved in if I want. I don't officially move until 12/12/12 (heh) but I'll have the keys tomorrow. Amazing.

I figuratively cannot wait to move. This house has never been a "home". I've never settled. Christ, there are still boxes in rooms eight months later. When I moved here, everything else was positive - new job, new opportunities, etc - but I didn't want to move out of my last place, but I had to as it was tied to the job. This time, I really want to move. My landlord has been fine - completely absent: I've only met him once - but fine. It's just the house itself; too far away, too expensive, too big. Without the children around, I rattle around here, lost. The new place is smaller, but still ample for me and the children, less expensive, and much, much nearer to, well, everything. That the landlord-elect seems to be such a nice guy is a real boon too.

I have both fat fingers AND am too lazy to type properly.

I never ever claimed I was typographically-proficient.

A very irate poster in the Empire Online forum seeming to get rather upset that the actors playing the completely fictional race of dwarves in The Hobbit aren't actually dwarves in real life.  While sometimes there are posts here that make you despair, occasionally you get one that transcends idiocy to become unintentional comedy.

Of all the hotlinking related pics I've seen, that's one of the winners.

My mum just sent me a text message consisting entirely of capital letters, and for some reason it made me grin like an idiot

The evil triffid-esque knotweed saga may finally be at an end and the relief is physical. The conflict between the common sense talked to horticultural people and the flat out panic extremes by finance people is immense.

Also, de-cluttering the massively over-stuffed bookcases in the living room is a pretty satisfying thing to do, even if I don't think they'll last a week past the guests leaving post New Year.

Pulp just gave me one of the best musical nights of my life.

Just under three hours, packed full of rarities like Born To Cry, the duet they wrote with Richard Hawley, but just about all the hits sprinkled in as well - the only notable omissions to my mind were Lipgloss and Bad Cover Version.

It was quite bittersweet as well, though. Without overtly saying it, it did feel like they were saying goodbye - Jarvis talked us through some of their songs from the very beginning which included getting his sister on stage to sing with them and decorating the stage with toilet roll like they used to in the '80s, and they all came forward to do a big bow at the end which I've never seen them do before. And then they set off big paper guns at the end which give it a lovely festive feeling and Jarvis crooned White Christmas.

Just amazing.

I'm not entirely sure why but finding out Hugh Bonneville is playing the title role in Mr Stink put a huge smile on my face.
