My manager has been really supportive about my on going health problems. I went to see him today after my hospital appointment to let him know what the latest is (have been signed off work for the past 2 weeks) and while I was trying to discuss the possibility of changing my contract and doing part time hours, he was telling me to not even think about work just now and just to focus on getting better. He says in his mind he doesn't expect me back until I've been sorted out and to just get myself signed off again when I return to the docs on Thursday. Financially I guess it is in my best interests as my pay will be covered, but i am missing my workmates and the general social interaction from being in work.

He suggested I take something else up in the meantime and I asked, 'like what!?' and he replied, 'I don't know... read War and Peace or something?'

It's nice to know that's one less thing to worry about at the moment.

It's always nice to be reminded of the decent employers out there - the ones that think more about people than jobs.

Absolutely. I've been feeling really bad because it's such a bad time of the year to be leaving people in the lurch, but he was really reassuring about it. And like I said, it was me that was pushing to return to work, whereas he was encouraging me to take the time I need to get sorted.

It's both heart-warming and depressing to know that not all bosses/managers are complete cunts.
Defones have made me smile today. Lots.

My friend's tweet was a photo of him ironing with the words:

I bet Ridley Scott doesn't have to iron his own green screen.

Really made me laugh today.

Can I ask, was he ironing a green screen? Because, y'know, that would make this anecdote funnier...

I just came out as gay to two of my best friends, and they reacted amazingly. I can't put it into words how I currently feel, but happy (and slightly drunk ) will probably do for the time being

I had a horrible night's sleep last night due to various problems, and at one point I popped online for a bit - I read this and then when I eventually fell back asleep I ended up dreaming about it!

Anyway sounds like you're having a good time of things at the moment, that's awesome, very happy for you!

Good to hear, Hoody.

It took a lot for one of my best friends to come out to me, so I have an idea of how difficult it must have been.

Same. I remember one of my previous flatmates took ages to tell me. Before we'd even moved into the flat together she was like, 'I've got something to tell you that might affect your decision to move in with me', and I had no clue what it would be. But she couldn't bring herself to tell me. I racked my brains and was like, 'look, unless you've murdered someone.....there's really nothing that would affect my decision to move in with you.'

I told her there was no pressure and that she could tell me whatever it was whenever she felt ready, I would never press her on the matter or even ask her about it.

Eventually of her own accord she told me one day and I was almost offended that she'd even worry about telling me or think I'd have any sort of problem with it. But then I realised that was a selfish way of thinking about it because it was about how she felt about it, and how hard she found it to tell people. As far as I was concerned she may as well be telling me she liked pepperoni pizza or that she brushes her teeth twice a day.... it was such a non-issue. But I could see how hard it was for her and I respected the fact she wanted to tell me and how much it took for her to do so.

I clicked on it and they were all asleep. As I was staring at the screen, the big cat suddenly looked up and stared straight at me

After a really shitty day at work and the trains being delayed/cancelled... I arrived home to a new magazine, a stack of Blu Rays delivered, a top dinner and a crazy dog pleased to see me. Not so bad a day after all

Clive Barker just 'liked' a comment I made on his Facebook page. A ghost of a smile is delicately playing about my lips.

^ Genius marketing. Although, despite my dirty, dirty mind, I didn't read it as THAT until I saw the link. I read it as intended...
