Got a twitter shout out from my favorite hobbit, Dominic Monaghan, for a pic I drew of him. Any publicity I can get works for me!

It wasn't the Man U pic was it??

Kunis: You can't walk home all on your own, what if you get raped?
Wahlberg: If I get raped it'll be because of what i'm wearing.

The funniest bit of dialogue I have heard in a comedy in a long long time.

Except that's not it at all.

The whole scene is a perfect reversal of seedy man picks up chick.

"Walking home on your own?"
(Tentatively) "Yeah..."
"...wanna lift?"
"No, if I get raped it'll be my own for fault for what I'm wearing."

It's the way he says it too, absolutely pitch-perfect.

Was told that I have some outstanding wages owed to me and I can pick it up tomorrow.

Didn't know I had any owed to me. I'll probably just waste on sweets and multiple DVD copies of The Hottie and the Nottie.

It was indeed! I would rather have drawn a Watford shirt, but I didn't think he would appreciate.

Cycling to work in the rain this morning. It was warm, wasn't windy and it was absolutely torrential and I was drenched by the time I got here but it felt good. Blew the cobwebs off after a shitty sleep last night.

Some truly epic trolling on Amazon that has been going on for ages every time a Supernatural dvd is released.

Always makes me laugh.

Awesome! I remember seeing it and thinking, as awesome as the drawing is, it's a shame it was Man U . Nice one though!!

Because my best friends came round last night to cheer me up and christen the house and in the process reaffirmed just why they're my best friends.

And I plan to use my free time to go and see old pals from university who I haven't seen in far too long.

In fact, screw it, I'm gonna visit everyone I know. Who on here is willing to put me up for a few nights?

Anyone? Anyone?

This was actually last night but it definitely made me smile - the legendary Peter Cook episode of Clive Anderson Talks Back from 1993, still one of the funniest hours of telly ever.

Reading a thread on Reddit about dark secrets (no, not that thread ), and I just read a short one that made me howl.

It's the small things, isn't it?

My dad has had problems with his knee for as long as I can remember. Consequences of a botched surgery from years ago. Anyway, it's always been a background niggle until the past year when it's become a lot worse and has caused him a lot of pain. He's had countless trips to the doctors and physio's and nothing appears to be helping.

And it's absolutely killing me, because my dad loves walking. If he's off work, then he goes for a walk round countryside of our town. If he can't get out for a walk he's like a bear with a sore head. My dad is who got me into hill walking and who took me up my first munro. He's joined me on several of my munros and we've kept a wee silly tradition of a kiss and a handshake when we get to the summit, because that's what we did when I got to the top of my first one all those years ago.

So seeing him unable to walk round the block of our neighbourhood is really destroying me. And I can't even think too much about the fact we'll probably never get to hill walk together again because it hurts too much. I look at the pics of the last time we went walking together and they just make me sad because I'm fairly certain that's the last time we'll ever walk together.

This evening I got a text from him saying he'd gone to a local hill just to see how far he could get, but there was a bike rally on, so he went to a nearby glen and spent 2 hours walking about there and how pleased he was. Such a simple text, but it made me well up because I know how much of an effort and how much of an achievement it would have been for him.

That one text has made me feel all warm and happy.

After getting to work late today for reasons that weren't my fault (see "Pissed off" thread), I decided to spend most of my day in the stockroom tidying up.

Even though I say so myself, I've done a damn good job and I feel proud

Where I took my mum for a hospital appt today shares a waiting room with a kids' clinic so lots of books for the little'uns (including Briggs' Ethel& Ernest which suggests someone just saw cartoon and didn't bother reading it). Anyway, only mentioned it as I picked up Wallace and Gromit - The Whippet Vanishes, to read

What I have also smiled at today are the 'Honest Trailers' on youtube.

I could stick this joke in the Jokes thread, but it made me smile for two reasons. One, it's a good joke, and two, because it reminded me of so many elderly couples who come into the shop:

God comes and says :-
"I want the men to form two queues, one queue for men who had control over their own lives and the other one for the men who were controlled by their women.

Also, I want all the women to go away so that no man and woman can talk.

God returns, the women are gone, and there are two queues.
The queue for men who were controlled by their women is 10 miles long, and in the queue for men who had control over their own lives there is only one man.

God is flabbergasted and says, "All you men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created you in my image, and you were all controlled by your women. Only one of my sons stood up and made me proud. Learn from him!"

"Tell them, my son, how did you manage to be the only one in this queue?"

The man replies, "I don't know, my wife told me to stand here."

A year ago I was in a job that I liked but was miserable because of the manager. It was really affecting my health, both physically and mentally - the stress and anxiety were exhausting and I'd lost a lot of weight. After talks with my folks I handed in my notice without another job lined up (very risky) and thankfully found a new one and started it within 2 weeks of leaving my old place, and it's been a far better place to work for. The people are nicer and the company is better - the training, perks and discounts are amazing.

It's still not where I want to make a career out of, but it's so nice to know how much happier I feel now in comparison to this time last year.

And on that note, one of my pals I worked with at my old job has become similarly downtrodden and miserable whilst working at that place and I told him we were looking for new staff. He applied and really knocked the management's socks off. So he's just away to start working with us next month, and this evening I got a text from him saying "It's just sinking in that I don't have to go to that shit hole every day. Cheers for letting me know about the job, reckon this is gonna be a really good thing for me. I owe you big time.'

Knowing what it's like where he works in everyday and knowing what he's coming to - I'm really pleased for him.

Talking about ways for my Granny to be able to visit far flung relatives without flying, and my mother calls a cruise line a 'shipline', which unfortunately sounded a lot like 'shitline'. Both my brother and I cracked up at this, but after my mum tried to continue it was then we noticed that my 90 year old granny was shaking in silent laughter. When we all stopped and looked at her she said between breaths, 'it sounded like she said something rude'...

I love that my Granny is still all there upstairs, and can.appreciate a bit of innuendo humour!

You're very lucky.

My Gran is amazing but unfortunately she has been going downhill for the last year or so. It's heartbreaking to see and it's even worse when I live so far away. I realised that she probably doesn't have many good days left in her and I'm missing them by being in Essex.

My grandma's settling into her new care home just nicely. She spent ages telling me how nice the lady who lives next door to her is so I asked her what the old dear on the other side was like. Apparently she's 'a buck-toothed twat'.
